to make both godzilla & gamera fans happy, i think they should fight with each other over whatever until another bigger badder monster showed up & then they had to team up to beat it. they could earn each others respect during the fight.
it will never happen i know, but would be cool if it did.
does toho make the gamera movies?
mrbluehair, what you said earlier, i didn't read it until after i posted this. great minds think alike.

My idea for Godzilla vs Gamera...
Gamera is a hi-tech machine used by the government during the Cold War as an excuse to destroy the Soviet Union and other countries defying the United States' will. However, the cyborg's origins are kept secret, and the masses believe that the robot is actually an intelligent creature (Doing what it pleases). When the giant monster Godzilla appears, destroying American cities at an increasingly high rate, the U.S. wonders if they should release the robot to fight the monster, and risk exposing their shameful secret to the world if the machine is destroyed.
No pre-existing time line btw.

How About:
In the midst of a Viran invasion of Earth, Gamera is overwhelming the Viran forces including it's Kaiju army consisting of Space Gyaos & Guiron. In a last desperate attempt to swing the battle against Gamera, the Virans' send a scout through the outer dimensions for another creature that could defeat Gamera.
The Viran scout enters a dimension where he finds a creature that he believes that could defeat Gamera. That creature is King Ghidorah but before he can teleport him to his home dimension Godzilla appears and soundly trashes King Ghidorah. The Viran scout takes advantage of Godzilla's victory and teleports him back to his home dimension.
Back on Gamera's Earth, the military and Virans are engaged in an intense firefight when a series of Space Gyaos appear and attack the military forces. Gamera however shows up and destroys the Space Gyoas and moves in to destroy the Viran mothership when the air crackles with energy and suddenly Godzilla appears.
Godzilla just fresh from defeating King Ghidorah is still in fight mode and the first thing he sees is Gamera and the battle ensues. Godzilla and Gamera injure each other Godzilla falls back into the ocean and disappears while Gamera attempts to fly away but instead crashes into the surrounding countrside and is buried under an avalanche in a fissure.
With no monsters remaining the Virans press the attack and drive the military forces back. The world military is hard pressed as it seems the Virans with the unabated attacks from the Space Gyaos and their own technology are gaining the upper hand. Also the scout ship sent to find monsters from other dimensions to defeat Gamera has returned with another version of King Ghidorah and the creature begins to destroy every city it encounters.
Frightened children across the world begin praying for Gamera's return and the prayers of the children restore Gamera's strength and he returns and challenges King Ghidorah. Gamera gets the advantage against King Ghidorah briefly until Space Gyaos appear and turn the tide. Just when Gamera appears to be completely defeated the ocean explodes and Godzilla appears and attacks Ghidorah and the Gyaos. Godzilla also begins to succumb to the sheer numbers until Gamera blasts Ghidorah and allows Godzilla to take advantage and destroy King Ghidorah.
The military presses their attack against the Viran mothership again and get the advantage. Just before the ship explodes the Virans gather together and begin an alien chant or prayer. Godzilla faces off again against Gamera and just before they can attack each other, the remaining Gyaos attack them and both Gamera and Godzilla quickly dispatch them. Both creatures face against each other, but this time with no malice towards each other. Suddenly Gamera cries out as a huge spike bursts out of his chest. Gamera falls down mortally wounded and Godzilla finds himself facing a gigantic Viran (Aka Viras). Godzilla and Viras battle each other and Godzilla begins to get the advantage when suddenly Godzilla vanishes ina field of crackling energy. Viras seemingly celebrating is blasted from behind by Gamera and the final struggle begins with Gamera eventually destroying Viras with the help of the military. Gamera roars in victory and the military leaders allow Gamera to leave without incident and even acknowledge that maybe Gamera is not the monster that they thought he was.
Back in Godzilla's dimension the military is still on the scene examining the Ghidorah carcass when from nowhere a field of energy appears and Godzilla emerges from it. Godzilla roars towards the military units before turning towards the ocean and disappears underneath the waves. The military allow Godzilla to leave unmolested because he is the monster they thought he was and that they were in no way ready to engage him.
**This would keep both franchises seperate in differing timelines and could keep continuity (As if Toho ever worried about continuity) to some extent. **
