I like a lot of the points that are being made here. I personally have voiced my opinions elsewhere on this site, but as a response to a question of an all CGI Godzilla...I say yes only in a motion capture environment...
In the idea I had, would involve several past Godzilla movies in a 4 act play so to speak...1st act uses GVThe Thing as backstory, 2nd act uses somthing like G85, then act 3 uses GvBiollante (Haven't fleshed out which 3 best complete the backstory but the 1st one is a definate)
I want to re-create the scenes from each movie, only using new characters in them from a different perspective of the same events as to not tarnish or change the original's story. Using motion capture, CGI and color filtering I would like each part of the movie to reflect the cinema look and techniqe of each film...IE the warmer earthy tones used in GvM. Culminating in the 4th chapter in the film with the new scenario and a bringing together of the story arc to a very 6th Sense twist ending.
AGAIN, I DON'T WANT THE PAST CHANGED, but as in life, there could be other stories around each event aside from the original movies.
As to motion capture, you can have a "man in suit" also re-create each Godzilla moment in these movies and have the CGI boost the visual appeal of Godzilla in some of it's most memorable role without a diminished return. Just adding (like it was said before) more expression texture and visual oomph to the design is all that is needed. Godzilla doesn't have to outrun choppers...he can just blow them out of the sky!!!:D
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!
