Act 1:
Fifteen years have passed since the events of Godzilla vs. Destroyah. However all is not well. In that time period, the history of the Godzilla wars has vanished into the mists of history while other equally traumatic events occur in the world, which eventually lead to a world civil war. However, all of that paled with the discovery that the legendary king of the monsters is very much alive although in hibernation in the Antarctic.
After a series of ship disasters in the Arctic Ocean, a secret American/Japanese task force decides to call up its lead commander named Rear-Admiral James Larsen, who was living in seclusion in Tokyo. Once given the information, he is given command of the task force and attempts to train the task force with the help of his command staff (which included old comrades).
Unfortunately, they have very little time when the UN sends an ill-advised expedition to find out once and for all the cause of the sinking’s. It encounters Godzilla who immediately sinks it while absorbing its core before heading southwest.
With Godzilla now free and heading their way, the task force puts its defensive plan to effect with the first clashes occurring around the Kruil Islands. After several sharp engagements, the forces on the Kruil Islands evacuate to Hokkaido and Tokyo. Also, the leaders of the United States and Japan play the tricky game of getting the UN onboard but unfortunately, the other members, very angry about being kept in the dark, throw in their own demands, which wrecks the command staff that had been set up in the intervening three years.
Godzilla eventually smashes his way to Hokkaido and engages first the American and Japanese forces and then the international forces assigned by the UN near the Sapporo area.
Act II:
The human forces launch an enormous naval blockade and it leads to a naval firefight on the scale of the times when ships engaged each other at close range. After smashing through that, the monster devastates Northern Honshu before they make a stand near Sendai in the hope of stopping him before he reaches Tokyo. Unfortunately, they fail and also Godzilla reaches his full strength and his atomic breath changes from blue to red.
At the same time, Rear-Admiral James Larsen has to deal with the infighting between American and Japanese units and the other commanding officers and also elements in Washington that want to see the task force fail as revenge for their own past suffering against the monster.
The good news is that that several old veterans, especially one who had played a “pivotalâ€
