I to would like a more serious film. I know when they would start pitting Godzilla against other monsters it would have potential to go back towards that campyness in a way, but then again if Toho themselves can be more serious about the franchise when it's revived then it can work. Of course, it can be hard to get serious about it when it's not doing the greatest in theaters.

Anyway, they revived James Bond and Batman the past 2 years, I don't see why Godzilla can't go through the same thing at some point.

I may be in the minority, but I want a dark, gory, monster epic. PG-13 is unacceptable, I want the series to be purged of any family friendliness. It needs to be rebuilt from the ground up, less SOS, more Se7en.

Personally, I like the idea of a more violent Godzilla film. At least for one movie, to re-establish Godzilla as a true monster.

I want to see the true consequences of one of his attacks on a populated area. Godzilla is supposed to be the awesome power of a nuclear weapon in the form of a living creature. I want Toho to show this. Show crowds of people being trampled under his feet. Show the interior of a tank and it's crew as Godzilla burns them alive. Show people being pummeled with rubble as buildings collapse on top of them. Show the doomed survivors suffering from radiation poisoning. Make it good, make it dramatic and make it scary. Make Godzilla frightening again!

While I want a darker tone, I want a dramatic story that was mentioned. Maybe add a unforseen twist to the end like The 6th Sense...my idea revolves around a Scientist/Former Military officer that has lost everything in various Godzilla attacks hell bent on destroying the monster and near the end is injured and comatose to the outside world while still able to hear and see them and hear his own thoughts and no way to communicate them. He figures out how to stop G and goes crazy because he can't tell anyone how to do it....the closing scene is a view from his eyes as the medical staff watches a tv showing Godzilla's latest battle looming ever closer to their location and the evacuation begins....You hear his mind screaming "I know what to do, I have the answer!!!"

You can focus the action and drama around the monster battles, and still have a compelling human element....

I don't necessarily need a gore fest, but a good, "realistic" movie with real consequences would be a nice change of pace. You see the cost, not necessarily of humanities mistakes, but just the real toll a battle with an onstoppable monster would entail....yes, you should see buildings fall in crowded areas, and those that suffer radioactive poisioning, make Tokyo or whatever city you focus on "look" like several battles have taken place there and show pockets of land where Godzilla may have used his atomic breath and now is too radioactive to inhabit. Show buildings damaged and deserted or being rebuilt and maybe a scene showing cleanup after a battle and dealing with another monster's corpse that fell in battle to Godzilla....I mean really, how do you dispose of a 200-300 foot dead monster in the middle of the downtown district???

As the movie progresses, show the change in society as they become a more "gun shy" people, perhaps the numbers dwindle throught the story till a City like Tokyo or Los Angeles becomes a lost place for those that have no choice but to stay.

I have several ideas that I need to put to paper. Each time I think of new ways to add drama, tension and desperation.

I guess I would like to be at the end of a Godzilla movie where you don't go YAY!!!! But "Man, can you imagine if that really happened???"

Godzilla: Abandon All Hope
Godzilla: Reign of The King
Godzilla:

I still believe that a properly made Godzilla, with the right people from Toho and an American Film company can make a ton of money...they just need to realize that the generations that have watched, have all grown up, and kid's tastes today are more mature than we were at their age and you need to cater to that...

In terms of Godzilla's look, then I'd say bring back the MireGoji suit (Favouritism? Watakushi? :P ), give him the silver dorsals of GxMG/Tokyo SOS and bring back the golden-hued eyes and double rows of teeth from the Heisei series. But, mrbluehair, I do like your idea of bringing back the 'ionised air' effect from just before Godzilla cuts loose with the heat beam in GMK.

As for what I would like to see in the next movie - well, it would be nice if there could be a rampage like Gamera 3's Shibuya battle between Gamera and the Gyaos, something where we could see some fall-out of Godzilla's attacks rather than an evacuated city. Of course, that would be a bit tricky to still have humans getting caught in the crossfire, as Godzilla can't just swoop down from the sky like Gamera can.

Having said that, if the next movie did have a foe, it might be neat if that foe could fly, so it could pick up Godzilla and drop him suddenly into, say, Ginza. It might also be neat if that sequence could introduce the enemy monster, rather than have an 'emergence' or 'appearance' scene they usually get - y'know, make it a real bolt from the blue.

That, or get Yumiko Shaku back.

I would just like more grit than fluff. I would like to have the viewer have a sense of relief at the end of the movie as opposed to everybody going..."Yay Godzilla saved the world again!!!"

I would have the overall theme be "Godzilla is the price we have to pay in order to keep ourselves a soverign planet..." If you are going to bring in the Alien quotient.

Same goes for a home grown opponent....you make his foe somthing that want's to destroy everything for it's own pleasure and Godzilla, while a threat anytime he arrives, has just a sliver of ability to co-exist with humans, though in battle shows no regard to saving anyone.

Basically Godzilla, when not in battle with another Kaiju will randomly show up to flex his muscle and keep humans in their place in comparison to his status.
