I know that there are a ton'a threads on Toho's future Godzilla, but I was just wondering if anyone can tell me (from rumors heard and such), what will the next Godzilla (in 2013) be about? Will it be a remake? A reboot? Just curious.

Who knows? It could be anything, if there is even to be a film in 2013 or sooner.

Yeah at this point your guess is as good as anyone's.

I think right now we all have to agree to give threads like this a rest. Godzilla isn't coming back for a while, and Toho never plans anything that far in advance. Lets say that Toho has 2013 set aside for a new Godzilla film. We still wouldnt hear anything until that year, late 2012 at the absolute earliest.

Look, the Sony GINO 2 is never happening, and Toho intends to wait it out longer to bring Godzilla back (anything else would be suicide.) I think that's pretty much it. Asking about it like this is really going to get you nowhere.

^ No frickin kidding! You can feasibly start saying "uhhh toho will bring back goji in the year "X" cuz...." and be totally wrong. There is NO plan of any sort. Period. Could change. Could not change. So why wring your hands over non-existant info? What does it actually achieve? Goji had a similar arc and absence in the 70's(from Terror of to G84) there was no "ten year plan" to bring back goji. It simply happened. Business is what drives these films, and no matter what Toho will(maybe for that matter) bring back Goji when they think he will actually make some money beyond us fans.(Sorry there aren't enough die-hards to warrant bringing back Goji right now.)

No GINO 2. No Gojira 2008, or 9 or whatever. And until an official -OFFICIAL notice comes, nothing changes. In the interim enjoy DVD releases, toys and maybe fan made flicks.

My post was longer originally but I rambled too much, sorry.

And I'll admit I couldn't remember which series it was off the top of my head but I'd read it in the Guiness book awhile back... After a bit of research I think it's Wong Fei-Hung, who has 100 (more, perhaps?) but with that many they can't've been by the same studio. It'd be quite a feat if I'm wrong on that. [EDIT: Actually, it looks like a large majority *were* ] And then by one studio (but not characters), there're the "Carry On" films which number 29 with a 30th compilation film. That's what I found, anyway.

Wasn't trying to derail or anything nor do I really care just *which* series has more films. Just saying, is all. Don't need to get so snippy.

All I think is that when Godzilla comes back I want a good Godzilla movie. It's safe to say that eventually we'll see more Godzilla from Toho. It's like High School and those emergency buttons. There are "Make Godzilla Movie" buttons all over the Toho lot. Sometimes people just brush up against them by accident and a Godzilla film is put into production!

But I'm perfectly happy with all we have now, and there's plenty of stuff to look foward to from CM and Media Blasters. That's just DVDs there are plenty of other products like toys, soundtracks, books, ect. out their to buy. CM said that they plan to get their Godzilla films back on TV. That should be a lot of fun.

We have 28 movies, over a dozen related movies (Mothra, Atragon, WotG), and then other kaiju movies with Majin, Gamera, Gappa, ect., and lets not even mention Ultraman (oh, need remember to get the vol2 DVD set).

Has anyone re-read their Godzilla novels by Marc Cerasini lately?

There is enough Godzilla stuff out there to keep us all entertained for the rest of our lives. I don't know where all this "no new film so the fandom will die out" mentality comes from.

Godzilla is in hybernation, and when he does in fact make his glorious return, we will all be there to welcome him. But, until then we need to sit back and enjoy what we have rather than get our hopes up and saddened about something that we won't have for a long time. He will be back, and when he does return, it will be an awesome day for Kaiju fans all around the world :D
