Honda has already made the best Godzilla movie of all time and nobody else will ever come close.

And I think the answer to your question has more to do with how American culture and Japanese culture view these films than anything else. I don't wanna see a Godzilla film of WETA/ILM proportions because it simply won't feel right. If the CGI is handled with care like King Kong, then MAYBE it can be really cool, but Godzilla and kaiju movies are perfect with the suitmation and miniature techniques, so I think the best looking kaiju movies of all time have already been made... and in my opinion, most of that stuff like Gamera 3 looks better than any CGI American movies do.

Here are some little things about Japanese culture in regards to their SPFX.
1. The fx are usually not meant to be realistic like usa films, they are meant to be more stylized. For ex. GxM was supposed to be a nod to Japanese Noh theatre thats why Godzillas face was no expressive. Yes, as a film that was a bad choice, but it was a cultural thing that most Americans would not understand.

2. Total CGI creatures are usually regarded as "soulless". That was a reason why Ultraman still uses suits and Gamera still does. Gamera 3 had an amazing cadre of spfx, yet they still used suits.

Do you know what I hateed about most of the millenum films? They felt like they weren't even trying to be epic, just little films to see on a boring Saturdayafternoon. That's one of the reasons why they all bombed. Make a Godzilla films an EVENT. SOmething you HAVE to see, just like in the glory days of Hinda and Tonaka.

I want Godzilla's big comback to be just that: BIG
