The series was basically dead and GFW definately was a big nail in the coffin. Hopefully in 7-10 years a new young group of producers and directors can take over the franchise and give us a nice little series of movies....

Toho can survive without him for sure because they have a wide range of other investments BUT for notoriety's sake (and unemployed kaiju filmmakers) it's Godzilla. Sorry Gamera but Godzilla still rules in Japan and elsewhere.
