I'm still not convinced Godzilla is a 100% cgi. Obviously the tail is as well as the shot of the head roaring, but the closeup and the shot from behind are cgi? And even if he is, there is still a ton of practical effects of miniatures exploding.

Where exactly did Norman Englund say that the film was reshooting scenes? He's the only source I'd trust on the subject, and I'm finding nothing from him.

Englund's word I largely trust. Eggleton tends to jump the gun on what is and isn't a thing. Even still I'm seeing or hearing anything half as drastically disappointing as what was be spoken of pre-Final Wars. The leap to that feels just as contained to fan commentary as those screaming it looks like a masterpiece.

I admit I have reservations, but I can not fathom how some here think it looks "awful".

All I could translate from that was...

CG Trailer unfinished state and hasty production period.

I'm amazed to this day that they haven't figured out a good Japanese to English translator yet.

^The main thing people have been reporting from this panel thing is that despite a lot of CGI they still use traditional tokusatsu techniques for elements that would be too difficult or time consuming to do any other way.

I think we are all jumping the gun a little, before we have all seen the final product. Yes, we do have our concerns, including yours truly. Mine is still that I think this Godzilla is too big for his own good and Toho only did that to one-up on Legendary's creation. In terms of the design of the suit, in his 60+ years, Godzilla has always looked differently, with each of us having our own preference. It does not make these guys wrong for creating another different look for the Big G.

And this is going to sound sacrilegious, but there is no law out there that says Godzilla has be a man-in-suit. Would I prefer it? Yes, but when CGI is handled well, then that is something I can accept. What I do not wish to see is a CGI overload, like so many Hollywood productions. Hopefully, this will not be another one of those.

Of all the things shown, the CGI was what impressed me the most. I do want to see what Japan can do with a CGI Godzilla. I just hope the rest is up to par.

Godzilla's face looks totally inspired from one of the Titan's in Attack on Titan.
As a matter of fact, Godzilla himself looks modeled after the glowing titans. Obviously the affects in AOT heavily influenced the new Godzilla design.
The sea rose as a wall of sharp spines sliced thru the surface. The water boiled and churned as fish of all species floated on their sides, dead. Godzilla, the demon god had emerged.

Are Godzilla '54 and '89 the two "mysterious" kaiju teased on the toy flyer, or are "High Grades" something entirely different?

^High Grades are these tiny (but pretty detailed) figures that come in pieces in little capsules! They're really cool. I got quite a few when the Millennium series was going out and there'd be a new set every year.

The tail looks even more insane in profile. The only ways I can rationalise anyone signing off something so out of proportion are either if it's to play up this Godzilla's deformity or if it eventually falls off and becomes a separate monster.

So, I have a few thoughts about Godzilla's tail.
1. They really are just mismatched bones that regenerated wrong.
2. They are other animal remains from:
a: creatures caught in the Oxygen Destroyer as well
b. Things caught in the reforming body of Godzilla
c. Things Godzilla is absorbing to regenerate.
3. Maybe they are symbiotic trilobites?

One thing that I always had a problem with when ever they wanted to use a revived Gojira from 1954 angle, was that it always appeared to me that even the bones were disintegrated as well, at the end of Gojira. You see them disappear. At least that is what it looked like to me. How can it regenerate from nothing?
