I'd be okay with direct to video releases filmed in the vain of the Showa era 70s films!

No Toho Goji flicks for a loooonnnng time thats for sure. They should look into making epic animé like Akira though.

The "old style" days of making kaiju films is over. The revival is clearly in US hands now. It'll be awhile before Japan's CGI standards matches ours.

I'm all for more Gamera or other traditional suitmation kaiju from Japan (or anywhere else) but I'd prefer if Toho just let Godzilla remain in Legendary's court for the foreseeable future.

I think there's room for both. If Japan wants to make their own classic style Godzilla films with sub $20mil budget, I don't see the harm in that. The only people who would care to watch them are the Japanese and hardcore fans. The only place you would see brand dilution is in the Japanese market. I would welcome a return to Toho produced films.

Why would Toho produce more monster movies when all they have to do is lease their properties out to studios willing to take the risk? All Toho has to do is continue to retain distribution rights in Japan and rake in the dough. Based on the success of Godzilla, that's what will continue to happen.

I didn't say that Toho WAS going to do it. I just wouldn't be apposed to them going forward with their own franchise again. I certainly wouldn't be against it, as some commentators are.

I'm all for new Godzilla movies. If and when Toho decides to make new films, I hope it's something they do from a labor of love standpoint and inject new ideas into the franchise. Simply rehashing the same stories or combinations of stories isn't necessarily the best recipe.

For now, I am content with Lp and all the monster flicks we will be getting.

Yeah, I wouldn't call Gaira or Sanda human...human beings aren't born when chunks of other human beings fall off.

If you were to examine Gaira or Sanda's DNA, how much would it resemble that of humans?

If the kaiju in "Pacific Rim" can share the same DNA, then so can humans and Gargantuas.

Beg to differ. Frankenstein (monster) had human origins. The Gargantuas origins was Frankenstein. If they were real, their blood and DNA would be human.
