So, I've never actually watched anime. My only real exposure to it is occasionally flipping past it on tv or, at most, ignoring it while my college roommate watched some back when I was in school over a decade ago.

That being said, what's so horrible about the animation in this teaser? I mean, I didn't think much of it, but I've never thought much of any anime.

^ Polygon Pictures' composite style of using all CGI animation but combining it with traditional anime style (like the low frame rate originally born out of necessity) rubs some people the wrong way.

Personally, it doesn't knock my socks off, but it doesn't bother me either.

Anyone else so those things jutting out from his power jaw?



Again, I think we get a good look at him Godzilla will be quite a bit different from the 'G'14' copy he seemed from the teaser poster.

I can't really tell what it is. The two protrusions could be from some sabre-toothed tiger style upper canines (which would be a surprising new design choice) or Godzilla may be holding something in his mouth. The angle seems a little off for the protrusions to be over-sized upper canines, but that could also be due to the way they're drawn.

G-Beard!

^Yeah, I'm leaning towards a G-beard.

Perhaps the poster image is the 21st century Godzilla and this is the 'future present' Godzilla who's grown/mutated, hence it not being evident in the poster.

It seems Godzilla will be the same color (blue) and texture (like exposed muscle and sinew) as the Servum.

Shin Godzilla was zombie-like, but this one looks mummy-like.

That toy looks like Legendarygoji wearing a Shingoji skin suit.

^ Shin Godzilla looked like he'd been horribly burned, this one looks like he's had a run-in with a Cenobite and joined Blue Man Group.

We now have a schedule for this movie trilogy: the second and third installments will both be released next year!

So, I'm guessing they'll be spaced about 6 months apart with 2 in the summer and 3 with a similar release date as the one this year?

Thinking about what Higuchi said at G-Fest about Toho's window for making Godzilla movies as per their agreement with Legendary. We've all just assumed that doesn't account for animated films (thus a loophole) but this does mean anime Godzilla will be bowing out a few months before MonsterVerse Godzilla returns.

The return of the G-beard!

All these pictures are being very coy about his feet. I'm betting on flippers.

I gotta say, to me, that is probably the most boring design I've seen for Godzilla. This being an anime, I was hoping for something more visually interesting. Here's hoping that seeing it in action will change my opinion.

Yeah, it's not doing anything for me either. It's like they took the G'14 design, which was o-kay but not great, and made it slightly worse.

If you search for 'Godzilla' on Netflix, they currently have two placeholder slots for this year's Godzilla anime and one of the 2018 follow-ups. There aren't any video streams for either of them and they seem like they're not meant to be publicly visible yet. This is all of the text that appears on the TV screen:

... but, we have some more details like out first look at the feet! They're a bit different from any previous incarnation of the feet, so may the Foot Wars continue!

Also, I'm assuming this is a statue in the vein of the Shin Godzilla statues which were so heavily used in the promotion for that film last year. Hope we can look forward to a similar campaign this time, as that was fun to follow.

^ well i'm going to assume that they were actually going to go with suitimation, but the initial screen tests were a disaster, so they had to switch to animation even though there isn’t enough time to do it right, and that the whole production has been a disaster!!
