Since New/True/God don't convey the same intent as the Japanese word, I think we should just stick with 'Shin.' Also, having a Japanese word in the title helps sell that this the Japanese version, since we now live in a crazy world where Japan and America are both making Godzilla movies.

I really like the simplicity of the name Shin Godzilla. Gives the franchise a new clean slate to work off of. And I can see that somehow being incorporated into describing the new set of movies from Toho: Showa>Heisei>Millenium>Shin. Don't know about Neo Godzilla, because it used to bug me when people referred to the post Kamen Rider Decade series as Neo or Neo Heisei Kamen Rider. XD

By the way I read a posting from one of the articles wrong about G'16's height. It said Godzilla 2014's height was 108 meters and G'16 will surpass it. Reading Comprehension... what is it?

Is there a reason why the G'16 Godzilla has to be taller than G'14's? It seems they're doing that just for the sake of it, and not for any real practical reason.

I'm judgy just because Anno is involved. My expectations are very low based on that fact alone. I have no problems with a serious or darker-toned Godzilla movie, but his stuff, like Eva, is just obnoxiously dark and his characters generally suck.

Even though I am excited (cause of Higuchi's talent) I have kept my interest for this movie far lower than G'14. Even though I ended up liking G'14, they definitely did not do what they say they were going to do. From the concept/teaser trailers showing a movie that was going to have death at every corner bringing Godzilla back to his 54 routes (like the actors and Edwards all said not my words) to Edwards claiming this movie was going to be "As if it really happened." Maybe on paper they felt they hit that but on the screen the whole movie felt like a watered down disaster movie where Godzilla came across as a bad ass super hero.

So with that being said I am avoiding all trailers for G'16 and most lip service for the movie so I don't go in expecting one thing and come out with another.

As Jelly said, Attack on Titan was meh. I liked it when it involved Titans but it was incredibly dull when it involved only humans. Hopefully they can fix these issues in the movie.

As for Toho and gang saying they want to make the movie better than G'14... I mean what else are they going to say? I just ignore it now with any movie as far as I am concerned.

Yeah, it seems Toho is trying to compete and make something "superior" to G14. The odd thing about this is that Toho was super proud of G14 especially after the premier in Hollywood. I honestly don't think they're actually trying to outdue G14...

Also, yes, the title is pretty flipping dumb honestly. I KNOW it's a Japanese film and it means different things, but it doesn't translate good AT ALL to English.
