Reading the comments on Augusts facebook I read a comment by Bob Eggman himself commenting about the advertising for the movie...

"Not bad for a $10Million dollar movie."

Is that really all they spent on the movie? I know Final Wars was something around $8 mil I think? It just seems low considering how much they spent on the two AoT movies. I thought naturally the budget would be higher just because of the amount of time that has passed since the last Japanese made movie.

Wasn't Attack on Titan like $30 million for both films?

That seems extremely low - but I guess it increases the likelihood of getting their money back (ha! Now I sound like a Toho executive!)

Holy crap, I'm dying at all the ads that have Shin Goji carrying things in his tiny hands! My favorite is the bath house where he has the towel on his arm.

I feel like August's ranting (or whatever we want to call it) is a result of what I was trying to get at in my earlier post: this guy is a FAN, specifically ON THE LOOKOUT for Godzilla stuff, and thus finding it. Is a poster at a burger chain considered market penetration? As lhb said, we'll have to wait until it comes out to judge whether the marketing campaign was successful, but I'm still inclined to trust the people living in Japan, who are talking to casual individuals, rather than a Godzilla fan, who's on the hunt for everything he can find.

Every time I ask what the budget was for this Godzilla movie or the other I get different answers.

Unless Higuchi/Anno talked a big game that they could make a great Godzilla movie for $10 million, it just doesn't seem to make sense since I swear I read an article boasting how this was an enormous production.

I just don't know what to think about this movie anymore.

Let me clarify. Bob Egglington made a comment saying the movie was $10 million on Facebook.

I read an article somewhere blabbing about this being a large production. Maybe it had to do with all the goofy cameos and I got confused.

$10 MM would be about half of GFW and roughly half-ish of each individual AoT film as well.

Plus the fact that some people are intolerant of change. I've been wanting to see an animated G film in Japan for 20+ years. But I've been told Toho insists Godzilla be live action. A film or weekly anime with the pantheon of Toho kaiju available would be awesome
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.

An animated Godzilla film instead of a live action might incite a level of fandom meltdown not seen since 1998. I don't think they'd risk going that route

Is no one else finding it hilarious that "insiders" are claiming a $10 million movie is getting reshoots because Toho is concerned about quality?
