Its funny how these exclusives are so sensationalistic. The link on Bloody Disgusting screams The Mighty Godzilla Will Roar Again as its title.

Yet the article states

that Legendary Pictures is looking to do another major movie with the iconic horror monster (they are in early discussions),....

Bear in mind that a plethora of movies and movie projects are discussed on a daily basis in Hollywood and few of those discussed projects ever make it to pre-production let alone production.

Furthermore if this goes through, you have to assume Legendary Pictures will team with someone. They are a small company that was founded only 4 years ago, and all of thier films have been made with Warner Brothers with big Time/Warner cash.

First off...

WOW! This thread freaking exploded. This is the first I've heard of this and it's already on 5 pages! (though this is to be expected considering the topic)

Second off...




I'm sorry. I haven't read hardly any of this thread, but I've noticed a divide between the "Japanese production or bust" people and the "give it a chance" people.

I consider myself pretty reasonable and open-minded. However, I'm in the JAPAN ONLY camp right now.

Godzilla is as Japanese as apple pie is American. An American production of the big G is tantamount to a German production of Captain America as far as I'm concerned. GINO was enough proof of this.

Could it be a great movie? Sure. Could they get Godzilla's character spot on? Why not. But as far as I'm concerned, it would ALWAYS be an American interpretation of Godzilla rather than a "Godzilla movie"...much in the same vein as GINO, even if it's a thousand times more enjoyable.
