Well, some of the Godzilla mangas from the 90's and such were pretty cool and well executed, so I bet an anime would do well. But yet again the film industry in general does terrible now in this day and age.

What I want for the series is something dark, but Not that dark. And NO gore. All I want is a movie where the effects of the kaiju on everyday life are shown. For example, showing what may happen during a kaiju evacuation scene if the monster doesn't actually show up.(Shigeru Kayama had something similar going.) Or how the media and Japan's news media react to the monsters. I also want an extensive military angle, showing the planning the JSDF must do before a raid, and the fear soldiers show when fighting these giant menaces.

i seems like all Toho would need is a slick 2 minute teaser trailer (no roar no logo ) to create a buzz ... they could even put "comming 2013" at the end
look at clovenfields buzz . no one knowns anything about this movie ,no plot,no monster, just a city and a head rolling down the street .....(i was being very simplistic but you get the idea).... marketing departments do this kind of thing all the time ( iphone) all it takes is a hook like that and you have the potential blockbuster ..now if the product sucks ,you better hope you make your money back the first 2-3 weeks LOL
