Gigan Unleashed

I worked on this one for quite a while, mostly due to the wings. As you can see in the original sketch, the tri-wings of Gigan were to be skin, stretched out to provide balance while flying, making it look more bio-mechancial. So when I colored the tri-wings, I made the wings a washed out green color, what Gigan's skin would look like if stretched out and dried. But after I colorized the golden scales on Gigan's chest and tail, I realized how complimentary the golden color of the tri-wings were to design. Why change something such an awesome design that was the Showa creation. So I changed the origin a bit to reflect the new/old tri-wings design, and hopefully creating a better connection with the Heisei univers. Hope you guys and gals like it.

Although the purist in me doesn't think Gigan needs anything but the smallest of upgrades (like Spider-Man's costume, Gigan's design is virtually flawless in my opinion) that is one incredible illustration. Without a doubt some of the very best fan art I have ever seen.

Well, my main problems with the design are the spikes coming out of the knees, the extra spikes on the feet, the way the main spike comes out of the feet, and I feel the neck is too long (but given your revised origin for the character I can kind of understand that last one).

I also prefer my kaiju less muscular. One of least favorite aspects of the GINO design were those muscular, humanoid arms.

Again, however, this is all just my opinion, nothing more nothing less, and if that picture weren't meant to be Gigan, I would have nothing but praise for it (....well, okay, actually I'd probably say, "Dude, that's totally a Gigan rip off!" but you know what I mean :P). Besides being technically excellent, the picture is exciting and vibrant, with a pose that really breathes life into the character.

Again, other then some aspects of the design which come down to nothing but opinion, an amazing illustration.... Oh, and I keep forgetting to mention: I LOVE those wings!
