Andrew, skill to draw generally either requires alot of practice or natural ability. I will never attack someone over not being able to draw or play music or whatnot so here's what I see.

While you do lack the physical skill to draw to the levels of say Emperor Kedzuel you do have somthing going for you that is sometimes hard to teach even the most talented, your pictures tell a story, so if you can refine your skills, it will help your story....keep workin it.

Natural ability?!

You make me laugh, mrbluehair. Some people adapt a wee bit more quickly than others, but there is no such thing as "natural ability". At least not in the way you say it.

Fair enough. The main thing that got me was his "either requires alot of practice or natural ability" line. There are a lot of people who really seem to believe that some people are born as amazingly talented artists. Kind of annoying.

you know, the other day there was a very similar discussion in a comment thread on digg, with many taking a similar stance to you kiryu.... I didn't really understand it either, b/c i've personally never seen that (people thinking that great artists are just born & don't have to put in any effort). maybe it's b/c my sister & i both excelled in art, & both majored in art/graphic design in college (she graduated with a double major fine art/ graphic design, i burned out, changed majors & transfered to another state). Anyway, people around us saw how demanding/time consuming the art classes in high school & college were, so while they commented on our natural talent for doing well, they never saw it as "easy". But from the discussion on digg, & your comments here, there must be a segment of the population who really don't understand what it takes to get really good at it, no matter what talent you're born with...

I came from a town where football and chicken were far more popular than the arts could ever hope to be, so lots of people didn't really understand around there.
