Yeah, but if it's G's 50th, then why Caesar and not King Ghidorah? The guy IS, after all, Godzilla's nemesis...next to MechaGodzilla...and Mothra...ah nevermind, it's impossible to make a 50th anniversary G flick and make EVERYONE happy.
Regardless, a plot like that would have been a nice change of pace from the Kiryu saga. Everyone here knows that the reason that Tokyo SOS did so poorly was because they used MechaGodzilla AGAIN and Mothra AGAIN.

Godzilla's 50th could've been the Earth Guardians vs the Cosmic Monsters.....And Godzilla and Anguilas just happen to be in the middle of it...

King Seesar, Mothra, and Manda v.s. Gigan, a "new" Monster Zero(a.k.a. King Ghidorah), Megalon, and their MechaGodzilla....

The plot could start with Godzilla rampaging through tokyo and leaving it in ruins, so the army mobilizes all their troops to stop him, but are easily defeated. Turns out their elecronic equipment shorted out while they were aiming for him and they became easy prey to his "yellow" beam...(do you guys see where I'm getting at?)

Soon, the Xians arrive on earth and "defeat" godzilla, earning society's praise. The U.S. and Japanese armies know the truth - That couldn't be THE Godzilla because they encased him in an antarctic glacier after WWII using the experimental super ships Atragon and Gotengo....

During that time, young decendants of the great shamans are given the task to awaken their repective guardians when the time comes......

With earth's armies seemingly in their grasp, the Xians begin to search for the remains of their greatest creation, Gigan, to begin a massive assault on earth so that they could lay claim to ther planet.

They unleash Megalon to dig for the remains of Gigan while they finish Monster Zero, a monster of fearsome power, made from the cells of past monsters (you could reel some footage of Destoroyah, Varan(CG it to look awesome), Megaguirus, and Orga ).

Meanwhile, the american and japanese governments put together a team that will pilot the Atragon and the Gotango and search for the glacier Godzilla was encased in to make sure he's still there. During the mission, they'll be attacked by Zilla( He's an underwater creature, who's also cold-blooded...makes sense, right?) and Xian submarines and fighters, before they finally get to Godzilla's glacier and see that he's still in there and that the world was duped.

The Xians see this and release their "Godzilla" to attack the populace and the Guardian monsters are summoned to stop him. During the battle, "G" makes them bleed and collects their DNA, which is sent to the Xians to finish off Monster Zero. "g" is unmasked during the battle and MechaG battles the guardian creatures to a draw(the creatures have supernatural powers...Unlike their new renditions)

After a hard battle, the real Godzilla is awakened and quickly taken to Tokyo, where Mecha G is. The guardian creatures back off, confused, as MG and Godzilla battle it out.

Megalon finds Gigan, who was "evolving" underground(and losing the belly) and Megalon and Gigan join Mecha G in Tokyo to battle Godzilla and the Guardian Monsters....

In the end, the three cosmic monsters are defeated and the monsters battle each other. Meanwhile, Anguilas rises in Arizona and witnesses the "birth" of Monster Zero - a bigger, badder, uglier version of King Ghidorah, although we don't see it until the final battle. The monsters are lured there and after some human drama, Monster Zero's unleashed to do battle with them.

I guess you guys can fill in the rest..I have writer's block. :P

On Topic - Maybe if all of the showa and Heisei movie monsters were brought back, remade and upgraded, we'd not only get more movies, but also some memorable updates and possibly better action than before....

The way this has evolved, it really belongs more in the section so I'm going to move it there, but I'll shadow the topic.

I think Kitamura or someone close stated that they'd originally planned to use a new mecha design to match up with the new Godzilla. However, I'm not quite clear as to why it was scrapped along with Gorosaurus.(which, by the way, I heard would've been a total redesign to avoid any resemblance to Stan Winston's Rex and stay in context with both the style of the movie, and the monster costars...)
