I wrote the story late last year. The Ring mythology and backstory is, for the most part, accurate with the source novel and Japanese sequels. It is an amalgam though. The Oni is not a character in the Ring mythos as he becomes here. But, it is mentioned Sadako's mother may have made a pack with a demon or evil spirit.
