Robert Scott is always a perfect person to have around there. He's always very accomodating and always in a great mood and more than happy to befriend anybody who walks up to him. No matter who you are, what you have to say, or how silly your comment might be, he will always talk to you like he has known you for years. He's a great guy. Funny thing is though, that the first year he was there, he carried that "star" quality where you saw him and stopped with a "oh man, look, it's M-11!!!". Now days, when you see him, you just go "oh look, Roberts here again..." and move on. LOL!
This was probably my favorite fest yet, and the only ones I have missed have been the Cali ones. I, personally (which is why I used the "I"...duh to me...), am finally giving into my "geek status" and am finally deciding to hook up with people and talk to people at this thing. It's only taken me since 1994 to finally give in. So this year, along with having my wife and kids there, I also took part in hanging with a bunch of people. Who would have thunk that's the key to enjoying yourself immensly at this thing??? Hanging out with people???
That showing of
Godzilla: Final Wars will forever be a special place in my heart. My daughter was with me and she had the time of her life. I think she loved the film, but also the energy of the place just dragged her along with it. I have never seen a movie get the reaction out of her that it got. She was hooting and hollering along with everybody else. THe second they showed the fairies, she went crazy! The second they showed Mothra, she went crazy. The second they showed Minilla, she went out of her friggin' mind! She recognized all of the monsters and went wild as they showed up for the first time in the film. I myself am a fan of the movie, but at that moment I was competely absorbed with how she enjoyed the film. I also now know what it must have been like to have been a kid and having been able to see these films on the big screen back in the day.
I also am pretty sure that JD said before the showing of
Godzilla vs. Hedorah (what a trip that was also, BTW, seeing the movie that got me into all this stuff, with the director there, while sitting next to my 7 year-old daughter, which is about the age I was when I saw it for the first time) that there will be another G-Fest. Plus since this was the most successful (largest pre-registration yet), I am pretty sure it will happen again. I have actually stopped wondering if it will happen, and now just wonder what month it will be in. I think I am becoming spoiled.
