Sorry...just the random comments about Stan lee got me depressed. Unfortunately we can never go back in time...But... I attended SDCC for nearly a 10 straight year run from 1992-2001. The last time I went in 2001, it had not quite reached the Hollywood fiasco it is now, but at peak attendance of more than 50K, I started to feel a little claustrophobic. I cant imagine at over 130K what it is like these days. Heck I cant even afford to go to the local comic convention in Sacramento this weekend
.
But in 1994, one evening my 3 friends & I sat in the "Yacht Club" restaurant which is at the Marriott. We were eating dinner, and at the table right across from us sits down Stan Lee & his wife. We did not bother them, though I really wanted to say something, we just let them have their peace. Interestingly, later that weekend, we were rewarded, as we got to say hello, shake hands and be on our way. See back in those days Stan would just walk around and talk to people. No entourage of guards, or whatever. He didn't even charge for photos. Now, I don't blame him for the way things are now, I blame main stream media for that. But man I do miss those days. A friend just recently told me he somehow obtained tickets for him & his brother to SDCC this year (he's pretty well off so I'm not surprised). he's never been there, and its been 15 years since I went, I just told him "good luck".
There are no more good TV Shows, only ones that haven't disappointed me yet.
