There were a bunch of these that i was sure had won before... but i was wrong. Lots of good choices, though some of the pairings might keep me away from making the selection (does anybody really need to hear my Eva rebuild rant again?)

Oh man, those are all good. I can't decided. I think I'm just going to roll a d10 when I get home and decide that way.

I voted Goji, but I don't have Evangelion.

Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla/Evangelion 2.22 for me

Oh, and Monolith Monsters/It for my secondary choice.

I've never seen Evangelion and don't plan on starting. That said I voted G vs MG and Dinosaurus/the Behemoth

I will actually be watching Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla as part of my rewatch this weekend. Serendipitous.

Admittedly it's probably been a few years since i have seen this movie even though i count among my favorites, but i wore out my VHS of Godzilla vs the Cosmic Monster back in the day... so i busted out the 50th anniversary DVD and watched the dub for the weekly viewing. Here are my random thoughts
- King Caesar/Seesar doesnt have a copyright logo on the back of the DVD box
- The flashback scene with the panels seems a bit out of place
- Professor just watches after his nephew rescues him...even when his nephew is getting smothered with a pillow and the villain has his back to the prof he just stands there
- The prophesy says two monsters will rise up to defend the earth, but Anguirus is the first to try and defend the earth, so my count is at 3.. but i guess the temporal constraints of the prophesy are looking only at the time after the sun rises in the west... you win this round prophesy.. but lets see you make the sun rise in the west.
- The line "Two Godzillas..what does it mean" made me think of the double rainbow guy
- i love the MG reveal as chunks fly away to reveal something more underneath
- Beam battle! two beams hit each other in midair canceling each other out and exploding. a predecessor to a DBZ cliche
- even with the cheesy rockets MG flight looks better to me than the CG flight of Kiryu
- Professor makes an awful lot of logical jumps to give us exposition.. might as well have an omniscient narrator
- in the scene when MG returns to the cave, two passing henchmen walk by and one looks up, at MG, its a nice touch to tie the scene together
- lead villain drinking wine..probably space wine
- secret spaceman base has its own execution room
- Godzilla lightning magnet
- Shot in the face..and gorilla transformation!
- Villain with plans of taking over the world didnt keep his promise..not so smart now are you professor?
- Execution room is steam powered.
- secret stalagtite has a secret
- trick shot! That's some Outlaw Josey Wales shooting there.
- The exploding car fakeout cut
- Its almost like there is some sort of significance to this pipe thing...
- Grandfather calls it like he sees it. She shouldn't have taken the statue
- spurting face shot courtesy of Interpol
- A mirage! now Prophesy, that's just cheating..
- Yay! King Seesar is free..but he's still sleeping... good thing MG is walking to destroy him rather than flying
- oh no.. a musical number.. lets hope its quick..
- its not.
- Great eyes.. and i like the floppy ears
- Godzilla snaps his fingers when he misses
- MG fights a battle on two fronts quite well
- MG BEAM+MISSILE BARRAGE!
- Neck blood spray..missile pin cushion.. G's not doing so hot
- Uh oh Lighting super power turned him into an at will magnet!... this might come in handy if he has to fight any more metal enemies in the future
- heads! i win
- another spurting blood neck shot..whats wrong with his face?
- King Seesar goes back to sleep, prophesy fulfilled (on a couple of technicalities) ancestors can sleep in peace.
- The End
I do still love this movie. A++ Would watch again.

Vs. MechaGodzilla is a lot of fun. It's my favorite of Fukuda's films and while the script is a bit clunky at times it works alright enough. The manic energy and the presence of some classic and talented actors help elevate it.
Not to mention DAT SCORE. Sato's best as well. I think this was really the peak for 70s effects/score/direction/fun.
Yeah..fun is a factor.
King Seesar works a lot better here than in Final Wars. I don't mind that redesign, but the eyes are goofy. The eyes here make perfect sense (they can redirect beams n' such) and the excessive fur really makes this thing feel like an ancient beast.
I don't necessarily feel this flight trumps the Kiryu flight, but I think this method of flying works a lot better for this MechaGodzilla than in 93'. I also dig the Planet of the Apes Black Hole beings. Some of the more memorable aliens, especially since we get them back for the next film.
I also really dig the Angilas/MechaGodzilla fight. I love Angilas plus it sets up how much of a challenge MechaGodzilla is.
(Would Godzilla have even survived had it not been for King Seesar? I don't think so.)

Its a toss up for me between the PotA aliens and the cockroach aliens. Both captured my imagination as a child
