^I guess the same is true for me! Apparently GRA played on The Disney Channel in the '90s, but I never caught it. I didn't even know the movie existed until I got the Godzilla Compendium in '98 (and I got a bootleg VHS three years later).

Thought Sven's trivia was even stronger this episode, and that was probably needed to navigate audiences through the whole 'Gigantis' weirdness. Can't wait for Godzilla vs. The Thing next week!

As I suspected, a few edits so far to keep the program (with Sven's bits) around 90 minutes. For those not tuning in, it's a pan & scanned version of the Monsters HD/Classic Media DVD transfer.

^My version is the same anamorphic (though trimmed on the sides) print we know from the DVD/Monsters HD, not quite 'pan and scan.'

But maybe there are some feeds for MeTV that are anamorphic and non-anamorphic?

I'm actually stoked to see Gargoyles. It's one of those major horror TV movies that came out of the '70s, like The Night Stalker and Trilogy of Terror!

Sven will repeat the month of Godzilla (KotM, Raids Again, vs. The Thing, and Revenge) next month, January.

And, hey, they still haven't shown Terror of Mechagodzilla or WotG!

Sven hinted at surprising new movies beyond the oft-repeated Universal flicks this year. This month has all been '70s TV movies new-to-Svengoolie and boy are they bad. Things are about to get more interesting, though: the first movie for next month is listed as The Revenge of Frankenstein!

This is a title owned by SONY, and that opens quite a few possibilities: they own the rights to several other Hammer Horror films, most of the Harryhausen library (all the Sinbads, for instance), Night of the Demon, Mothra, Battle in Outer Space, The H-Man, and most of the Heisei Godzillas, all of the Millennium Godzillas, and the Mothra trilogy. I think those newer films are less likely, though, as the program focuses on older stuff and most of those movies are too long for the time slot.

An update to this thread: a few years ago Sven began showing the 'Classic Media' collection of Godzilla films, but pretty soon thereafter those rights were snapped up by Janus/Criterion and they disappeared from the show's rotation...

... until a few months ago! Apparently working with Janus/Criterion the Godzilla, King of the Monsters! episode was reran, then the first all-new movie joined the lineup: the UPA version of War of the Gargantuas aired last month and in a few weeks, on May 29, Sven will show Destroy All Monsters!

Also, because the show has consistently good ratings they've given Sven an extra half hour, so they no longer have to be edited harshly for time.
