So...this is my first foray into creating a viewing thread.

I really wanted to include a Godzilla film for this thread. Seems like we haven't had many yet, but for my first thread I felt I should really pick films that are favorites of mine. For the next thread (if I get selected to make one) I plan on including some Godzilla films that I like too...including that hated Godzilla Raids Again...a film I like very much.

Anywho, let's get down to business shall we?

Gamera 2-Not much to say here is there? A fan favorite, a fun film...a good film. There's a lot in this movie that is among some of my favorite pieces of kaiju cinema (Gamera's apperance, Legion's origin, the final battle). I prefer Gamera 3 though honestly as it's a more personal film. The characters in that movie (including Gamera) all have arcs, the effects are amazing and the score is among my favorite. I selected Gamera 2 because it's a more 'fun' movie and it's my favorite depiction of Gamera, my favorite kaiju.

Gamera vs. Guiron-One of my favorite films of all time. The very definition of fun. Guiron is an awesome kaiju foe, full of personality...he's a d*ck...kind of like a more intelligent Red King.

The X From Outer Space-I f'n love Guilala. He represents everything crazy I love about the genre. One of my all-time favorite kaiju. The first half of this film is gold, the second half kind of loses steam, but not enough to ruin the film for me. This is a timely film to watch, seeing as how Criterion just released it on DVD.

Daimajin-Again, one of my favorite movies of all time. Daimajin is the stuff of nightmares. Part of me almost prefers the 2nd film but whatevs.

Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends (The Movie)-My absolute favorite Ultraman film. Belial is a great villain, the fights in this movie are incredible. I like the inclusion of Gomora fighting along side the Ultra heroes. As a kaiju fan, I grew up always prefering the kaiju in Ultraman to the hero himself. I'd like to see this idea brought back in a future series...a character like Rei who can control a kaiju or two, and teams up with Ultraman to save people. Also, I like Gomora's EX appearance. Easily in my top 5 kaiju. The blu ray of this has English subs, can't recommend it enough.

Gamera 2. No contest. In my top 3 kaiju movies ever made. I'm always due for a viewing.

i try not to include Gamera and Godzilla in my polls since there are already talkbalk threads for them in their respective forum that have more participation than the weekly viewing threads... that being said I'm voting for Gamera!
