Well that was a lot of fun! Right when I'd resigned myself to going alone my uncle desided to tag along, which was cool. The pre-movie "Spook Show" started out as a sort of "wtf" kind of deal to the three of us (planetxleader, my uncle and myself) but we all agreed that it ended up being pretty fun and you could tell the people who organized the event were fans, from the music (Godzilla soundtracks) to the Tsuburaya sushi skit.
The audience was surprisingly respectful towards the film for the most part. There were comments shouted out, and while some were annoying, there were a handful that you just couldn't help but laugh at. Oh, and everyone would laugh evilly along with Nelson. Thought it was annoying at first but as it progressed I realized it was actually kinda fun to do...

The best comment by far was when the expedition is startled to find trees on Infant Island and someone yelled out "POT!!!" I immediately thought of a similar scene in a James Bond film where there actually *was* pot involved and cracked up. This was my first time in a theater where the audience clapped like it was a stage play and it was really fun!
As for the film itself, it was also my first time seeing it and I loved it! If I could see it again, it'd probably become one of my favorite TOHO films ever and to be honest, I liked it a whole lot more than Mothra Vs Godzilla. Don't get me wrong, though... I still love Mothra Vs. Godzilla. The photographer chick in MvsG is waaaaay cuter than in MOTHRA... ^^;; But yeah, the film was awesome (though the print was a bit scratchety here and there...) still though... BIG SCREEN MONSTER MOVIE!!! My second, actually (first was GOJIRA). Can't wait 'till I can see the Host in April!
All-in-all, I had a blast tonight!
Here's a pic of myself (in the spiffy Ultraman jacket) and planetxleader (not in the spiffy Ultraman jacket), taken right after the show (courtesy of my uncle):
TAKE THAT CALIFORNIA!!! WE CAN HAVE SCREENINGS TOO!!!
(BTW, pxl, why the scowl? Was I that annoying?! XD)
Cheers!
