Whoa, wait a minute! So all the films that were touted to be 35mm prints actually wound up being dvd projections? And the one film that actually was a print broke & had to be replaced with the dvd backup??

Good grief! I'm really glad I didn't make it this year now. I was quite disappointed I wasn't going to get to see this years film lineup (several of my favorites played!) but I was only interested in seeing actual film prints! I have absolutely zero interest in watching a dvd projection in a theater. I'd have felt quite hoodwinked walking in expecting a print & getting a dvd. Honestly, I probably would've walked out & asked for my money back.

I have no problem with showing dvd projections if that's all you could get for the film, even though I wouldn't attend personally. But you HAVE to let people know which it's going to be beforehand. But the real kicker is that we were specifically told right here on this board by a G-fest organizer that they would all be film prints this year! To only find out once the movie starts that it is a dvd is just wrong!

I'd have been really pissed if I had actually been able to swap my vacation, make the trip with all the expenses just to see these films because I was told they would be prints & then find out only too late that they were only DVD projections. That's just really bad form on the organizers' parts.

So Godzilla broke during the screening? My question is: why couldn't a quick splice/repair job have been done? I've been to screenings where the film broke and the theater would repair the film and get it going again.
