What a wonderful, wonderful show G-Fest 14 was. It's early Monday morning and I'm already back at my office in the grim world of reality. I just can't believe how much fun this show was and how much everyone really got involved. No egos, no drama, no screw ups. Just bliss. I will admit to you that I am very sad that the show is over and just thinking that there are still many G-Festers rushing around right now after waking up, and trying to make enough time for one more walk around the Crowne Plaza, breakfast, goodbyes, etc. before leaving by car or airplane is terrible as I know EVERYONE hates to leave for another year.

I wish I had time right now to say more, but I don't. Perhaps others can comment on their experience. I'll write up something of more substance later. Sucks to be back in the real world without my G-Fest friends already.

I missed any announcements, so was there any word on next years location and date possibilities? I only ask because my family booked it's summer vacation already and I am wondering how bummed I will be for the next year.

It was announced at the G-Fan G-Fest panel that next years con will be held at the same location on the July Fourth weekend. July 4, 5, and 6. Since it's a leap year next year it pushes the Fourth to the Friday. The 2008 time and site were booked last year at the 2006 con.

Crap...Crowne Plaza again? Last year there was the rumor or idea that they would be moving to Minneapolis. I was all for that, even though I live an hour from the Crowne Plaza. Oh well, here is to over-priced EVERYTHING and incredibly rude service. I guess one can't have everything.

Yeah, those prices were better. Then you see the $3.95 for a Coke and you kind of puke. Next year I will just take full advantage of the wonderful parking fee (ach) and just go out in search of food. There is an Al's by the Pickwick I found out (too late though), and I will also attack Gibson's. The prices of the hotel are just not friendly at all. I guess I don't understand why a hotel would punish its customers like that. But it is a minor detal and one I will gladly finally work around for the pleasures of being at G-Fest.

A shopping center is being constructed as of now in the very back of the hotel. There will be resturants, stores, and a movie theater all in walking distant of the hotel. I hope it'll be ready by next year.

G-Fest was a blast, Again. The guests where great. Shelley Sweeney was wonderful. It's great to see old friends and make new ones. If you didn't get to the theater early (or not at all) for "King Kong vs. Godzilla" you missed one of the funniest moments in G-Fest history. I'm commited to a panel discussion for next year that will be real cool to see. I plan to put pictures up on the website soon, so look out for that.

I'm so glad I got to go to G-Fest again, was really cool seeing King Kong Escapes on the big screen. I wasted a tremendous amount of cash in the dealer's room, and managed to snag a 2nd place in the art contest. The MZ meet up was neat, though..I may have spoken only two or three words. (Takes me a while before I become incapable of shutting up ^_^;)

Can't wait for G-Fest 15!

My daughter won 1st place in the coloring contest, which was REALLY cool since all of her spending money was from a $200 raffle she had won a few weeks earlier, so she had a blast!

Congrats on the 2nd place win! Can you post your entry on the site here?

Well, I'm back and fully rested from a superbly awesome trip. G-Fest was fun as usual and it was great seeing all my friends and all the regulars at the show. There wasn't anything real over the top awesome this year (unless you count Dutch's swan dive off the stage), but all in all I thought it was a good show. The guests were pretty good and seeing King Kong vs. Godzilla on Sat. night was totally awesome. I love seeing these movies this way, with a crowd full of people who appreciate them for what they are. I was particularly impressed with the costume contest this year as well. The Mogeura they made at the convetion was pretty good, as were the Destroyah, both Angilas, and James' Hedorah, just to name a few. My Godzilla Collectibles panel also went off really well, so that was a plus.
Someone did mention not being able to hear Shelley Sweeney, which was true. But I felt that that panel really could have been handeled better. No offense to Bret, but he was really rushing her through her questions and it didn't seem like he'd sat down and done any prep with her on what he was going to ask. She had to keep asking him which of her roles he was refering to. I mean, she did only play bit parts so the experiences probably aren't stuck in her memory that well. He also kept asking for final questions with 15 minutes to go in the panel. I just thought for her being one of the marquee guest that there would have been more done with this.
Anyways, the show was great and I am already looking forward to going back next year. Now I just have to start getting ready for Comic-Con, which will likely wear me out more than this show did!
