If you're lucky enough to have a drafthouse nearby, start checking those calendars. My nearest one just put its first Godzilla showing on its calendar for May. May 7th, King Kong vs. Godzilla

Mine hasn't updated their calendar yet for May. All I know from when I was there the other day is they are showing The Matrix and Big Trouble in Little China next month.

The last time I talked to the head of programming over there though, he said they are trying to put together a double feature of the original movie with the new one. We'll see if that happens. I hope it does.

Yonkers Drafthouse just posted the showtimes for their screenings of the original:

Unfortunately it looks like there are only two showtimes, 4:00PM on May 10th and 11th.

Unfortunately, only 9 days out from the release, it seems like the only thing that's going to be shown is King Kong vs. Godzilla.

I'm legitimately disappointed. Last year, in the lead-up to PacRim, my local drafthouse did a whole day-long monster movie marathon, and several showings of movies like Robot Jox and a couple other giant robot films and even Evangelion stuff.

This year, in the lead-up to Godzilla, to only have one film in the genre being shown is a bit of a letdown.
