This is one of my favorite Gamera movies, and its also one of the Gamera movies that was new to me when Shout released it. I don't really remember seeing this on tv as a kid. The Shout transfer is fantastic, and this disc is my favorite of the double feature Gamera movies because Guiron's the other movie!

I love everything about the excavation site scenes. The perspective shots and monster battle are great. There's quite a lot of monster action throughout the movie, and Gamera loses two of the three battles with him suffering nasty consequences each time.

Watching this movie again I'm reminded of how violent and gory it is. Each of Gamera's limbs are painfully impaled, Jiger sinks some ships with scenes of the people inside suffering the impact, workers are poisoned from excavating the relic, every scene about Gamera's parasite introduction and eradication are a little offputting, Jiger vaporizes the military *and* people, Gamera literally beats the stinger out of Jiger's tail, and Jiger takes an impaling of the relic himself. Maybe that's why I don't remember seeing it as a kid, it might not have been airing for these reasons.

The kids aren't too annoying, although the little girl is a bit creepy. This was a fun watch.

We have pinpointed the reason Gamera is a friend of all children!

With Alpha's recommendation in mind, and if Mac still doesn't pass the torch, would anyone be terribly offended if I posted the next thread tomorrow?
