Godzilla and Friends III in Topeka, Kansas

Postby RyanClark » Mon Apr 21, 2008 7:04 pm

For the third year in a row, the "Godzilla and Friends" event is being held at Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, this year on Friday, May 2nd, and Saturday the 3rd. One of the hosts is the infamous author of "Godzilla on my Mind", Bill Tsutsui. Regardless of what you think of his book, he runs a hell of a Godzilla event.

I'll sum up the list. Most if not all features have brief lectures before and/or after them.

Friday, May 2:

Starting at 7:00pm:

-Trailer reel of 50s and 60s giant monster movies (10 to 15 minutes)
-Gamera 2: Attack of Legion screening
-Gamera prize giveaway

Saturday, May 3:

10:00am: Hanna-Barbera Godzilla series segment (10 min)
Trailer reel (6 min)

10:15am: Gigantis, the Fire Monster screening

1:00pm: Tarantula screening

2:45pm: Godzilla roar contest, drawing and coloring contest

The Giant Claw screening (20 min version)

3:15pm: Journey to the Center of the Earth screening

7:00pm: Japanese monster trailers (10-15 min)
Godzilla 2000 screening

Giveaway of Godzilla items, drawing contest winners announced

This event is a blast and fun for anyone who can't wait for G-Fest. If anyone lives near the area and needs more info, contact me.

ALSO, for those who live in the area, or at least can recieve the KTWU Channel 11 signal, that channel will be screening Yongary and Monster From A Prehistoric Planet this Saturday night, April 26, starting at 10:30pm. For the record, the latter will likely be in widescreen, as last year the guy who was running it told me he decided to because it was decidedly superior to the crappy print on the public domain releases.
