It's nice to see this getting a simultaneous English release.

Most of the art seems derived from the IDW comics. Looks pretty cool.

Those retro-style Godzilla trading cards Super7 is putting out are more my style, though!

I didn't know about the Super7 cards. Those do look good. Expensive though, but everything is these days.

SciFi Japan shared some info about this card game too: https://www.scifijapan.com/godzilla-toho/godzilla-card-game-update

Those Super7 cards do look really cool. Why couldn't those have been around when I was a kid?

Yeah I would have been all over those Super7 cards if they'd been around when I was young. And the problem now is that even if you order them directly from their website, what you get is still random by design; and there's no-one here I could ever trade with for the ones I didn't have!

I only have minimal experience with card battling-type games. I've got the Legendary Encounters Alien and Predator deck-building games, but those are things you can play cooperatively and/or solo, with other modes being for PvP. And although this looks cool, it being a strictly PvP (and thus something you can't play solo by the looks of it) makes it a little less likely that I'd end up getting it.

But it's cool that it's getting a simultaneous English-language release. I'll definitely check out any footage of it that goes online close to or after release. And at least there's always just the entertainment value of getting it purely for the artwork I guess, even if I never ended up actually playing it!

You know, I actually have had a stack of Godzilla trading cards since I was very young. They're from a mid-'90s series from Japan. Got them from a collectibles vendor at a mall.

If you're imagine a set of crisp, prestine cards, then sorry to dissapoint: I've been using them as bookmarks for decades!

^ Are those from the 1995 card set featured on Barry's Temple of Godzilla?

^ Indeed!

Well, most are. There's some other cards from a US set mixed in. A cursory Google search tells me that this is a '98 release by the same company that did my Japanese set; Amada. Guess they released products in both Japan and the US.

Barry's Temple of Godzilla? Now there's a name I've not heard in a looong time...
