Monster Zero x SciFi Japan - Archive Only

A new King Kong game was just leaked by Amazon Spain! According to the listings it's coming out for all current and last-gen systems plus PC. The official blurb reads:

"Embark on a 3rd person action adventure to avenge your parents' death at the hands of the ultimate alpha predator: Gaw. Conquer waves of primeval beasts and defeat your archenemy's minions to become the rightful king of Skull Island. Traverse the mysterious island and discover the history and secrets it hides as you stumble upon swamps, waterfalls, jungle and caves full of skullites that empower the island's flora and fauna."

Clearly it's going for a very cartoony, cel-shaded look, which I'm fine with so long as it's fun. There's no indication that it's open world or anything like that, but a game where you play as Kong and get to explore Skull Island, fighting monsters and dinosaurs and stuff could be cool. I've never heard of these devs and it's obviously not a AAA game, so I'm tempering my expectations a little but still remaining cautiously optimistic.

Yeah, the action looks cartoony and it looks like it could be a lot of fun. The way Kong slams down on the ground reminds me of those Hulk games on the Nintendo GameCube.

It looks like a mobile game, surprised it’s for consoles. Doesn’t look like it’s Monsterverse related.

Whelp, I guess it's meant to be terrible!

Here's hoping we don't have to wait another two decades for Kong to get another shot at his own video game.

Yeah, I saw this video of one of the in-game cutscenes where they left a placeholder image in place of character animation for one shot. A game with that kind of low-effort oversight seems like a waste of time and money.
