I forgot to mention this, but the new Ratchet and Clank game got pushed back... But only by a week. I can't remember who said they were really looking forward to it (I think it was Temjin), but in any case the developers said they are seriously trying to take up an entire blu-ray disc with this game... Should be interesting and I plan on trying it. I can't remember the last time I played a platform game.

I'm really looking forward to Rachet and Clank and the next Jak and Daxter game if there is one huge fan of the R&C series.

I played the first Jak and Daxter and liked it a lot. I don't know why I didn't try the sequels, but ya, I too am starting to really look forward to the new Ratchet and Clank. I've unfortunately never played any of them, but as I understand it Insomniac has a nak for coming up with these crazy but fun guns (they had some really interesting ones in Reistance). Plus I hear they are a ton of fun, multiplayer too.

Okay seriously, WHY?? Lowering the GB is NOT going to push the system, it is just going to make people uncomfortable knowing that Sony has no idea what they are doing.

Lowering the hard drive space won't... as much as the price. Come on Kain, you work in retail. They would be making it more affordable to everyone. Hell, people went out and bought the 360 eventhough it was $400 and some called that expensive, but now it's like "well, that's not so bad." If anything it's a sign that Sony KNOWS what it is doing.

Dropping the price to $500 quickly sold the 60 gb units and now they're all gone and sales have slowed down again with just this 80 gb model. Kain, they're not just going to sit on their asses and hope and pray people start taking more of a liking to the $600 price tag because it looks like the system will continue to sale at a snails pace. That's exactly why they would do it, to sell more systems plain and simple. They just sold off some unneeded factories for tons of money I believe, so it's not really going to hurt them by releasing another model.

In my opinion they should have done this to begin with, but at the same time I would find it hard to find a justification in buying the 80 gb model when you can just get the 40 and then buy your own hard drive for the difference it would cost to get the 80 gb model. 40 gb (would) = more appealing to the common consumer. 80 gb model = for the consumer with more money to spend.

60GB isn't all gone there's still a lot left in my area. The only crappy thing about the 40GB is they'll either be removing the USB ports or they'll be removing the Emotion Engine both of which are very important to the system.

As for the 360 slowly down in sales I don't think that's going to happen because Christmas is when a lot of people get games and systems so expect Halo 3 to keep sales steady till about January.

IMO the only game that I can see pushing sales for the PS3 is Rachet and Clank because the rest of the good games are comming out are new IPs and they could end up like Lair.

I'm not so sure about Halo 3 selling that many new systems. It will be interesting to see, but I don't expect it. No particular reason other then it just seems like a game where most current xbox owners will already get it. Of course the game sales are going to be huge no matter what.

I should restate what I said about the 60 gb version: I believe Sony said they have none left at all.

The 80 gb version already lacks the emotion engine (they're opting for the emulation like the 360 has) and you really only need 1 USB port, 2 tops. Even then it's not like their 100% designated for anything. I charge my controller, head set, or use it for my ipod. So if anything I could see them atleast keeping 2 on there. Although with the new Eyetoy coming out, they may not bother to lose any ports since i would imagine that has to be plugged in via USB.
