I'd say if you're really into the old-school 2D fighters, you can't go wrong with a little KOF action. On the 360, You got Guilty Gear XX Reload, KOF 2002, and Street Fighter Anniversary/3rd Strike/Hyper Street Fighter 2 that are pretty much the pick of the litter on the system, even if those are only there because of backwards compatibility.

KOF XIII's gonna be a definite must-buy in my book, and I hope they make the home ports insanely awesome with those hand-drawn sprites....

Fist of the North Star on the PS2 is a good game, but besides the fact that it's an Arc Systems fighter, I believe it's seriously over-rated. I actually have it and I don't see much action like in those youtube videos - the game AI is wickedly simple and the special attacks/ finishers are far from impressive. However, I will agree - Raoh, Shin, and Kenshiro own in that game, hands-down. They're probably the only ones who have worthwhile finishers and DMs and have a chain-combo system that doesn't involve strangling the controller. At first it was a big deal, but now....hmmm.....once you realize there's nothing else to see or unlock, the game gets shelved. :?

If you want a quality Guilty Gear-eque arc systems game, try Sengoku Basara X(Devil Kings X) and Arc System's latest and probably final current-gen 2d releases, Blaze Blue. Guilty Gear: Vengeance or something like that is supposed to be for the newer consoles, and is said to raise the bar really high for games of its' kind.

BTW, SCIV's not bad.....could be better, though...I HOPE they wise up and release Vader already, 'cause he's not in the game as far as I can tell, in any way shape, or form.

I suspect that Vader is on the freakin' disk and you'll end up paying $5 for a 1 kb flag file to unlock him, which is utter B.S. as far as I'm concerned. Maybe we'll get lucky and he's a time-release character or something, but I doubt it.

By the way, for anyone considering the LE, I would probably advise against it unless you're dead set on the t-shirt. I bought the freakin' thing and the "art book" that was shown as a (relatively) thick hardcover in all the promo materials is actually a wafer-thin comic book about Mitsurugi with a little concept art in the back. Some characters get less than half a page. I've also heard disquieting rumors that some people's LEs are missing the little card with the free DLC code while others contain several of them.* :?

On the plus side you get do get a non-advertised super secret bonus!

*spoilers*

Each LE edition of the game also comes with...a tiny black sharpie for reasons that escape me.

*I'm almost willing to bet money that the LEs were "assembled" at some sort of workshop that is at least spiritually akin to the place where my disabled clients work. We get jobs in all the time that consist of putting together promotional boxes for various companies, and I have to say that any preconceptions you may have about grievous errors occurring when the severely mentally disabled are entrusted to put X number of Y in a container are completely and utterly founded. We had to do a massive correction earlier in the week because one of the clients dorked up a huge number of kits she was working on. :( (It wasn't her fault really. No one should have put the blind, MR lady on a job that involved counting and arranging baseball cards...)

I have the LE, and I'm severely disappointed....though I must admit, the package itself, while a bit thick, is darn pretty. :P :D

The DLC you get, I suspect, are a full business suit set which supposedly no one has out there, except those who bought the LE....big whoop :?. On the plus side, I get to make an updated MiB chcracter to play as online....:P

I thought I was getting the Darth Maul parts like I saw in some video about the character creation....oddily enough, they pulled that video off of Kotaku, who got it from youtube, where all they have now are the token combo and critical finisher videos. If Namco did that on purpose, then it's REALLY sad.

There was also that yoda vs vader video where they're fighting in the imperial garden - for all intents ans purposes, THAT video looked 100% legit, so what that tells me is that Vader IS in the game, and either the PS3 or 360 gets him first....shame.

The black sharpie is actually for that pull-out poster/tournament roster, in case you ever host one. It's not a permanent marker, so once you wipe, the plastic's clean. Pretty good for them....ut pointless to some of us.

I just got a call that my 360 has been delivered, so I can actually frikkin' play Soul Calibur when I get of work. Total turnaround time was exactly two weeks from RROD to delivery of repaired console, which is pretty impressive, all things considered.
