Weird maybe your router just hates the 360 for some reason because you do have a better connection at your apartment than I do and yet I have no problems with Live, I have 5Mbps down and 512Kbps up.

I actually suspected the same thing
I had the absolute worst time even connecting to Live at my apartment (even with the 360 in DMZ mode), but the PSN would connect without any trouble.

I sent my 360 off yesterday. Does anyone have any clue what the occurrence rate is for the things failing again after being refurbed? I've read a disturbing amount about 360s being shipped back dead or keeling over with a couple weeks of being fixed, but I can't tell if that's really endemic or if it's just a few very noisy people who've have bad experiences.

Not sure the failure rate of refurbed units but I've heard lots of refurbs getting RRoD.

Nah going to skip out on SCIV not a big fighter fan.
As for me having problems with this one I plan on getting MS's extended warranty I have a year to do so so in case any thing goes wrong with this one I'll be fine.
I *shouldn't* have any problems with my newest 360 as it's a Falcon model meaning it's got the smaller CPU and other newer innards so it's less prone to failure.
