New Godzilla Game??

To echo what some others have said, I’m also not all that impressed. Of course, my initial thoughts were “a new Godzilla game, one not made by Pipeworks (sorry, but as much as I loved DAMM and STE earth, GU basically killed everything good going for that series, regardless of its awesome kaiju cast), sounds cool!” But from initial screen shots and game trailer, I found the graphics to be very subpar for a 2014 game. Usually, I don’t have much patience for gamers who harp on graphics over gameplay, but sorry, this is 2014, and the graphics should be held to a much higher standard instead of looking a tad better than the Pipeworks games….totally inexcusable.

Also, the kaiju cast is also something that could potentially make/break this game for me as well. Of course, it doesn’t have to include every single Godzilla-related kaiju (God forbid if that ever happened, eh TOHO/Bandai? ), but a well-rounded, intriguing kaiju cast of both modern and contemporary kaiju from all eras would be very pleasing. On the other hand, if it's just the standard ho-hum heisei kaiju cast with a few millennium kaiju thrown in (which 99% of the time consists of either Kiryu or FW Gigan....zzzzzzzzzz), then I’d probably pass.

Additionally, a well-designed “open world/sandbox” Godzilla game does hold some some interesting possibilities, and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t intrigued by such a game, and if pulled off correctly, it would make me forget about the lackluster graphics. However, if the gameplay bears any resemblance (no matter how minor) to games like Godzilla Generations or Super Godzilla, then once again I’ll have to say “pass”…

Actually, i really liked the trailer. As someone that enjoys the Earth Defense Force game series, i don't care for super detailed graphics but a fun time with destructible environments, so this game is just my cup of tea

Is this solely being released as a download from the PS Network, or will there actually be a physical disc sold in Japanese stores?

Although I live in Japan, I am finding the PSN in general to extremely fickle and tedious to purchase things (I still haven't been able to purchase Ultra SFIV as it rejects my valid CC when I try to add funds, and PS3 customer service has offered nothing helpful nor shown much interest in fixing this issue) and I'm just about out of patience...

Since it doesn't look too graphically taxing it could easily be just a download. But then again it seems like it's getting a fair bit of press and I would be surprised if it gets a physical release in Japan. Not sure about the rest of the world though.

Knowing that you fight the military in this has changed my mind somewhat. I've been looking forward to a Godzilla game with other kaiju and the military along the lines of Monsters of Monsters for a while now instead of a straight brawler or rampage game. That being said if Godzilla '14 and Kiryu 1 and 2 (yes theres a version with and without the drill hand) are the only other kaiju in here, I will be disappointed. Otherwise this may be the last game I get for the ps3. Saving up for Black Friday for Mah PS4.

Honestly, this game's monster roster is going to need far more than just Kiryu and some Super X vehicles to pique my interest....but hey, at least Bandai is consistent with their lack of kaiju variety in both their figure/toy lines and video games...

This game doesn't look exciting at all. It doesn't really seem like an original idea, the Pipeworks games already tread on some of this ground and they were getting stale. I'm probably going to pass on this one unless there's an English version.

It's basically just Bandai being Bandai (i.e. Stick with characters from the Heisei series plus throw in a few Millenium kaiju here and there (which 99.9% of time consists of Kiryu and occasionally GFW Gigan). I doubt any Showa kaiju or the likes of Anguirus, Rodan, Varan, Baragon, etc. will be showing up (I'd love to be proven wrong)...

On the bright side, at least it's not GMK Ghidorah....hear that IDW???!
