Updated Godzilla Compendium

I'd love to see J.D. Lees update his book. It's a wonderful work by itself, full of great things any kaiju fan would love.

However, so much has happened to the Big Guy since 1995. He's been resurrected, transformed in look and size for several new movies, (yes, even GINO) fought new enemies and some revamped ones, starred in several video games for Xbox, Game Boy Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance and SO MUCH MORE to occur this year (read: Godzilla: Final Wars and Godzilla: Save the Earth) and on and on...

New sections and features can be created! Some examples:

1. Godzilla Gaming: video games, board games, etc. can be covered

2. ToonZilla: the Hanna-Barbara days and the TriStar (yes even GINO) incarnation. Includes episode synopses, human, location and monster (they're not technically kaiju) profiles

3. Expanded comics section: complete rundown of Marvel Comics' and Dark Horses Comics' series with issue synopses and cover gallery

3. Splitting the films into three sections: Showa, Heisei and latest series.

4. TriStar's film: (for the completists)

5. Expanded kaiju bios featuring UFO, Orga, MechaG 3, Megaguirus, etc.

6. Special "Final Wars" chapter: spotlight on "Final" kaiju designs, behind-the-scenes, human character profiles, etc.

As a writer by trade, it would be my pleasure to collaborate on an expanded volume...

While I agree it would be nice to see an updated compendium, it won't happen anytime soon because Random House, who had the license from TOHO to make G-related books, had their license run out quite a while ago. That is one of the main reasons Ceransi's final G novel "Godzilla and the Lost Continent" was never released. Either Random House would have to renew their license(which isn't likely) or a different company would have to acquire the rights from TOHO to produce Godzilla books for the States. Honestly, I think both scenerios are unlikely. The mid to late 90s with Trendmasters G toys and Random house Books was a one time thing and a sort of the "peak" of North American Godzilla related merchandise that we may never be happen again...those were good times though :)

In terms of Japanese Books, I really would love to see a "Pictorial Book of Godzilla 3" come out. The first 2 books were some of the best Godzilla picture books ever, and since the 2nd book came out, there have been tons of new kaiju(Mothra films, Gamera, Millenium, and GFW with numerous kaiju) for them to easily make a 3 edition to that book series.
