Post your thoughts here.
The official preview for issue #1 is up:
http://www.avclub.com/article/exclusive ... odz-221345Honestly, I'm still not completely sold on this concept, and the "greeting sign" in "hell" comes off rather hokey imho, but I'll wait to see how it's all executed before making any real judgements.

The greeting sign is straight out of Dante's Inferno, except i think it was part of a larger inscription on the gate to hell. i really have no idea what to expect with this series.

Some initial thoughts I found posted on the "other" board (so take them with a big grain of salt).
Still not totally buying into this concept, but seeing Stokoe and Eggleton ('bout friggen' time
) back to work on these comics is more than enough for me to give it a chance....

1) wtf did I just read.
2) I wonder if this is what a David Lynch/Wes Craven/Cronenberg Godzilla movie would be like.
Great read, if way too fast. Curious as to where this hell leads. I wonder where King Ghidorah fits into all this.

You know this is easily my favorite Godzilla comic I've ever read (which to be honest my Godzilla comic library is rather limited). Too bad it feels so short because I want more now! This is one of those concepts that you either love or hate. As such, if you don't like the idea of Godzilla taken from all familiarity (ie the city smashing anti-nuclear hero or villain) to an alien and some times horrifying landscape then you should probably stick with Rulers of Earth, but for those looking for something fresh and original then definitely check this one out.

I loved this.
Stokoe is a brilliant cartoonist, and truly great cartooning provides a lot more entertainment value for your $3.99. I spent a whole lot of time on each panel absorbing all the tiny details or appreciating the sense of dynamism or marveling at how great Stokoe captures Godzilla's emotions and expressions without anthropomorphizing him.

Loved it. This is so different from any kaiju story I've seen previously, and somehow it works--Godzilla as the silent protagonist in Dante's Inferno, a pure milieu story about taking a tour through the bizarre sights of the personal demons of the king of the monsters. The only Godzilla story this even vaguely reminds me of is that old creepypasta about the possessed Godzilla NES game.
