"Like a miracle"...Giant Robot has returned

Just wondering if anyone that possibly purchased this thinks it is a decent story with potential to continue the series or is it blasphemy? I'm on the fence with this. I remember the emotions at the end of the original series brought about when I was a kid. Literally the saddest day in kid history. Part of me wants to hang onto that and leave the story end just as it did. Another side of me wants to allow the story to continue and see where it takes us.
I realize that GR has made somewhat of a comeback before in the GR animated series but the author of this story has discarded all of that and picks up many years after GRs apparent destruction.
