Other companies put out more scholarly and authoritative comics collections, but Yoe just has a knack for making every aspect of a book fun.

Just finished Gorgo. A whole lot of fun, I mean, how couldn't it be? Ditko is awesome. Giant monsters are awesome. Simple math. I noticed that Ditko adopted a more simplistic style as time went on (I imagine the demands of Spidey and Strange were the reason), but at various times - especially in the earlier issues - I feel the art is a strong as anything he ever did, especially in the terrific issue #2.
Though the stories are pretty standard for their time I think the mother/son relationship between Gorgo and Mama Gorgo really worked well.

^^ That cover is from Konga #23, published 11/1965. Might it be an homage, with its very interesting similarities to the Godzilla representation shown on the 1956 US Gigantis #1 lobby card (and art poster), especially the nostril flames and triangular dorsal fins?

I need to pick up the Konga collection. I hope one day they release the full collections of both series...I was pretty disappointed to realize the Gorgo set is ONLY the issues Steve Ditko worked on. :/ Ditko's awesome, but I'd like to read the WHOLE series...

For what it's worth, the Konga volume is even larger than the Gorgo one. I was very impressed!
