Here is another review. I haven't read this issue yet, but all accounts so far point to this being a major downgrade from the excellent first issue. Oh well, I still think this series is headed in the right direction, and even thought it sounds like this issue isn't all that great, it still sounds better than anything from KOM...let's hope they rebound with Titanosaurus in issue #3. Still, this is really starting to get irritating....how hard is it to present some decent god damn daikaiju stories on a regular basis? I really don't know what IDW's problem is...

Okay what the hell. Didn’t I say last time that I don’t care about the humans? Is the name of the book “Humans vs. Godzillaâ€

IDW's run on Godzilla is an odd thing. Rodan thus far seems to be a throwback to his 56 incarnation, a mean, people eating, b@stard of a monster who could give two sh*ts about people....

I wouldn't mind the ending of this comic if it were a Gamera fillm, but I'm not sure it fits in IDW's Godzilla series to be honest.

I don't think everything has to be dark and grim, I applaud this comic's effort to take a more child like approach with their story. That takes some balls in this cynical, everything has to be like Nolan's Batman world. I just wish it had been done with more effort.

Granted, I haven't read this issue myself yet, I'll have to check it out this week hopefully. Though it sounds so bad I might just skip it and wait for issue 3.

That's the problem with this issue. It's a childish story that could be pretty good if done with a mindset in the vein of Godzilla's Revenge or something. But it's NOT. At all.

I think the "disappointment" may come from differing expectations of story. In my humble opinion, it would have been nice to have Rodan fight another monster, but the destruction that he causes is really nicely drawn. The human story is straight out of comics history fellas. Jonathan Vankin is a Vertigo author and he's drawing on the old "Creepshow" type of stories from back in the day when sci-fi/horror stories always had some kind of crazy moral or "Twilight Zone" twist at the end. It works brilliantly as an homage to those books. But, I can see where a Toho veteran could be disappointed with it.

Godzilla: Legends #2 is a very good comic book, but may fail to live up to every kaiju fan's expectations.

Eh, I could see this being a good or decent comic book, but not VERY good. I think a lot of the disappointment comes from this coming after the pitch perfect Godzilla Legends #1.

You know, I hadn't really thought of this story being an homage to the creepshow/weird tales type comics. In that light, I actually like it quite a bit more. But it still suffers pretty badly from the way under-developed character motivations. It just makes the rest of the story a little too hard to swallow. If the exposition & dialogue were more convincing & natural feeling, I think it actually would be a pretty good story (again, especially when you realize it's a Weird Tales type send up).
