The character getting the focus in this particular issue is a moderate who's criticized both sides. Without trying to turn things into a political discussion, I thought the outcry against all the politics in this series were the way it was being presented, with the absurd jokes and Republican carictures. Personally, after the Girly Yaya character in Issue #3, someone like this is refreshing for me - he's not an over-the-top parody of a Republican (the Texas Governor in Issue #2) or a Democrat (Girly Yaya in Issue #3), just someone who's disappointed. Neither the character in focus nor the people he talks with does anything as ridiculous as what we saw in the last issue. The worst thing that I can see is some blatantly biased chatter from a pair of self-professed liberals who no one is meant to agree with.
And the impression I get from reading over those seven pages is that Jersyfield is only an illustration of the character's opinion of how far the current generation has fallen, while parodying something familiar to the audience for a laugh or something. And for that matter, I don't get how a simple parody is so bad. Television shows do it all the time. Furthermore, Jerseyfield doesn't seem to get much more than a simple mention here. It isn't mentioned at all in the synopsis. Perhaps it's just being used as a way to (again) prove our main character's point - as was the scene with the spoiled teenage girl and the man and woman eating cheesburgers?
