Call me crazy but i thought that whole scene was actually funny. This whole comic just spits a very dark sense of humor and i personally feel its being pulled off well. Between children getting eaten, animals dieing randomly, Angirus rolling into a ball, and "you gotta be #@$% kidding me " lines why not have a man so depressed over the death of his children that he commits suicide only to pop Godzilla in the nose. To his credit though, he did get the big G`s undivided attention.

I dunno. I just don't care for the dark humor tone the book is taking. It's what Eric Powell is known for though. It fits better with "The Goon" because that takes place in the backwoods swampland with some nasty hillbilly people.

Ah, so the Rodan cover isn't actually priced higher but dealers are raising the price because its not as common?

I didn't like Powell's at first but it's grown on me and I think that's the one I'm gonna pick up. Ideally, I'd want Matt's Rodan, but I think I have a snowball's chance in hell of finding that.

Anywho, I finally read the issue last night and thought it was great! I was one of the few that actually liked issue 1, and this one definitely steps the game up! Loved Anguirus's moments and am glad I didn't have the details of Rodan's appearance ruined for me. Loved his look, too; '50s Rodan all the way!

The only thing that bothered me was the kid getting eaten. Not because he was a kid (and he did have it coming), but because I'm admittedly squeamish about people-eating (Zedus chowing down on the town in Gamera the Brave pulls me out of the movie every time). Seeing him struggle and kick and he goes down Rodan's throat was just... ugh. :shock:

But overall, awesome issue!

Comic shop reopened today (after the disasterous tornadoes here in Alabama last week) and I got Godzilla #2.

After the most standard Godzilla set-up possible in the first issue we finally get to the fun stuff. More interesting monster action (Angilas! Baby Rodan!) and our brief encounters with humans are much more fun. I loving the whole dark comedy angle.

Well, as has already been stated, this issue is MUCH better than the first.

the Texas border thing was not good though.

these guys seem to be able to pull off dark humor quite well (the father of the kids from issue one...AMAZING) but their ability in the realm of political humor is ATROCIOUS

i sincerely hope they STOP...it's not funny, it's not clever, and it's OBVIOUS where their personal political agendas lie..
the texas governor being a fat guy in a cowboy hat was ridiculous...
