Indeed, the changes to the faeries are pretty significant. They're obviously not 18 inches tall anymore, aren't dressed in island garb, and are most likely French. Big changes, I agree.
However, is that such a bad thing? Do we really want to see every element of the Godzilla franchise copy and pasted into comic pages? I'd personally like to see some risk-taking and variety AS LONG AS IT WORKS. I think this approach to the faeries could be interesting, but it obviously has potential to be disastrous (as any deviation from the established norm generally does).
I'm looking forward to seeing more experimentation in this comic. Good or bad, at least they're trying to exercise some creativity...
