Great Eggleton cover... its a shame that the HGM may be getting the best treatment from IDW despite it being my least favorite by far.

Sweet! I'll be picking up both of these. ^_^

I'm a good chunk of the way through buying the trades now (so I don't have to take my comics out of their plastic so I can reread them), all I need from the stuff that's already been released are the three Kingdom of Monsters trades, Godzilla Legends, and Godzilla: Past, Present, Future (from Dark Horse). This History's Greatest Monster collection lets me skip buying the three trades for that series and just spring for this one!

Excellent share! The sheer size of Biollante is scary enough.

Look what I found at IDW's Godzilla page?

Awesome cover...though what's up with Lucy's giraffe neck?

It's no secret that I'm a *HUGE* Gorosaurus fan, and his appearance is *long* overdue (same goes for Baragon)....it would have been 1000x more exciting to see Godzilla vs Gorosaurus instead of Shere Khan/Scar in issue #2....can't wait to see his patented in action  I'm also pleased to see Megalon finally get something beyond a minor cameo, as he is a very colorful kaiju whose crazy powers and demeanor are tailor-made for a comic like this. Great to see Kamoebas too as his appearance is only fitting since his Yog partner in crime Gezora has already gotten into the action (but I really have little/no interest in seeing Ganimes appear...not that big of a fan of his hairy vagina mouth...I'd much rather see Ebirah appear instead...but an Ebirah vs Ganimes battle would be pretty sweet). I was never the biggest King Ceasar fan growing up, but he's grown on me over the years, so looking forward to seeing him as well. As for Megaguirus...meh, don't care one way or another...perhaps it will eventually grow on me too someday.

One thing that concerns me is whether or not so many new monsters can be handled adequately in a single issue. Don't get me wrong, I'm as thrilled as anyone with this latest news, and they've handled multiple kaiju appearances in the past rather well for the most part, so hopefully Gorosaurus and co. will figure long-term into this storyline as opposed to just a "one and done" single issue cameo.

Nothing beats the adrenaline rush of seeing good ol' fashion Showa TOHO kaiju finally getting their chance to shine and kick ass and take names in these comics...

Here's my guess; Megalon, Megaguirus, Gorosaurus, Kamoebas, King Ceasar, and Baragon are all in some kind of flashback that details the origins of kaiju on Earth. It's that junk in the foreground that is making me think this. Also Ms. Kaiju Hunter seems to be having some supernatural induced flashback

Also, I'm counting on Gorosaurus jobbing to Megaguirus, but I'll mark if he beats her. He's got an uphill battle.

Megalon vs King Ceasar is so... random. I love it.

Uhhh, so I guess this is the closest thing to a general IDW thread that we have, so I guess I'll post this here.

I've been catching up on the Godzilla comics (all of em). I have everything but the final trade of "Godzilla"

So far, here's my thoughts on what I've read so far.

Godzilla Legends: A fun series. I loved the first issue. Not the best writing or anything, but just a lot of fun. The Rodan one was kinda "meh"- The Titanosaurus one was fantastic, but I wish this was a full story and not just a first act that cuts off... that made it seem kinda pointless. The Hedorah/Mecha Godzilla was another one that was just good fun. And the Kumonga one was cool, but ultimately kinda forgettable.

Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters- For the first 4 or 5 issues, I was actually really digging this. I realize I'm probably in the minority even on that, but I really found myself liking the cynical sense of humor. I just thought it was fun dark humor. And I actually liked Hester's artwork and don't see why everyone was fussing about it. Santos on the other hand... I couldn't stand his art. I was thinking maybe everyone was crazy and found myself truly excited for what came next. Then... nothing really came next. The issues just start to plod along with no real end game and then the entire run just trails off. I DID enjoy the stuff with Woods and the little girl, but what the hell was up with everything else? Who/what were the twin girls and what was their affiliation with Battra to begin with? What's with Kumonga just showing up in one panel and never coming back? What was with the part where they showed the Shobijin in some guys house and we never see them again? What WAS King Ghidorah in this series? Why were these things even introduced if they were never mentioned again? WTF did I just read?

Godzilla vol 1 (the first trade with the first 4 issues)- I actually thought this was a fun read. Right now I'm digging the story and finding the characters to be fun. I like Boxer and his gang as being kaiju bounty hunters. But like KoM, from what you guys are saying, this is another series that devolves into nonsense. Fingers crossed.

I don't really remember, but I remember liking the first couple issues of KOM well enough...but somewhere around the fourth issue or so, it got really awful really fast, and I stopped paying attention to the IDW Godzilla comics altogether.

I've got a stack of like ten or twelve of them somewhere...I kinda just wanna get rid of them altogether.

Matt Frank's covers for 10 and 11:

Awesome stuff as usual from Frank. Gotta love the small village home/horse Easter egg on the Gargantuas cover.

Not too thrilled with Deatroyah coming back though, but that's just my personal taste.

Rulers is by far the best ongoing series of the bunch.

I've said this before, but IDW should have just started with this series or do a complete reboot with the creative team from ROE. Frank's work is awesome and I have been entertained by each issue, the last issue being no exception.

Hey ebirahsmeg, i don't think i've seen your opinion on ROE aside from the conversation about Zilla/Shere Khan. Have you been enjoying it?

Based on the covers (i haven't read the preview so this could be way off) that the Shobojin will give Lucy some vision of the past. So my money is on a montage sequence for most of the characters.
