@KPA

It's good that you provide some real information here on certain points like the popularity of Hamtaro and Kaneko's "temporarly unemployment". Actually I "swallowed" J.D.'s "truth" about it' popularity having declined. How should you know what's really going on if nobody tells you? If it's true what you wrote (and I don't doubt that), J.D. should really stop using misinformation just to back up his "arguments" - that's the worst thing you can do, just like propaganda in...[I'll stop that right here].
But I didn't know that there is no merchandise for movies in U.S. theaters. You know, I don't live in the U.S. and somewhere I read that there are things sold over there like these pamphlets sold in Japanese theaters. My fault.
Taking this into consideration, the whole special issue idea seemed to be silly from the start...

I don't want to kneel before you but...you were right - in some way (damn you) :wink:
Man, I just didn't want to post a totally negative message on that topic. You know, there are people sticking to stupid opinions like "anything about Kiryu etc is BS" and that stuff. I'm not one of them.

@armandv

J.D chose to make his controversial opinion public and so he has to deal with people who are not satisfied with that. Especially when he writes such silly things...
Hey - they even are picking on me now but I won't complain, because when I post something here I must be prepared to get some negative response.

And actually I think soem months after "next years's milestone" fandoms activity will go down to a certain level. That's just natural when nothing new is released for a long period of time.

@Gamera3

"Are we still 'allowed' to talk about things we read in Godzilla-related magazines, or just movies and moviemakers?"

Why not publish your own fanmag??? :idea:

Look, Armand, if you really want this stuff to cease, instead of doing the political crisis control, why don't you fix the problem at the source. If you do, I'm sure people will stop going all medieval on JD's ass. It’s pretty simple.

This whole thread is proof of the one universal truth: Causality.(No I am not the Merovingian)Whats with that silly "treaty"?! Is this Israel and Palestine? Hey one guy has the problem. As long as he keeps it up, others will notice and react. How silly.

When one steps into public visibility- be it acting, politics, or fanzine publishing, they open their work to both praise AND criticism. And certainly when they go so far as to try to push their opinion relentlessly, especially in a weird way against something popular-people will notice. Funny how some can only handle the praise. And many times when something truly isnt truthful or fair, there's the usual cycle, denial, defense by apologists, etc. But in truth the individual is their own worst enemy, and their ego blinds them from seeing the obvious. And their actions are the cause. Palin and simple.

Now the interesting thing about this situation is that it brings to light a funny trend: Fanboy enteprenuers who actually think other fans give a crap what they think. Be it in politics, religion, movie reviews or their own prissy little personal battles. And it always makes them look the fool. Besides the Canadian, look at Harry Knowles, or other nameless geeks. (Hows that book sellin Harry?!)Their print is loaded with both spoilers -but also their own little jabs, and ego strokes). ANd they have all taken to attempting to influence how WE view movies or people.

In general, as a fellow geek/consumer, I only want news, spoilers, pics, or features. I really don't care what you(the publisher or cybergeek) think. In fact I bet most EVERYONE other than their 3 friends doesn't care either. If you doubt me, try publishing "Gfans op/ed" and watch the impressive profits. It is a sign of a POOR businessman, when a business stops being about the customer and starts being an ego project. This is simple, fun,fandom-not "Hannity and Colmes". Get overyourself!

All this thread tells me is that someone got their feelin's hurt. Get over it already. People get subjected to some type of criticism day in and day out whether it's justified or not. That's not what's important BECAUSE the works of those who criticize and the works of those who are criticized speak for themselves. This spit fight must end here and now. There's not a publication in the world that doesn't dabble in opinion by the very act of suppression or exposure. News of any kind will never be just what is is without favor or disfavor. To see it any other way is very unrealistic because everything and everybody is subject to judgement. There are no exclusions. If it is slander that we're talking about here, then say it. If it is opinion that we're talking about here, then say it. The facts will come out eventually.
