With the upcoming New York City Toy Fair, and the stated to be seen "classics" of Godzilla, NECA is entering the arena where once it was solely the likes of Bandai for certain figures, with Y-MSF doing some limited issues of characters not normally covered. With NECA definitely focusing on more points of articulation, who do you look forward to seeing being handled by NECA? Will they be willing to step more into Showa than what Tamashii has been doing? We will have to see more about the plans of NECA at TF and ongoing news.

I would like to see them do their version of Mothra, Jet Jaguar and Megalon.

I have very high expectations for this line. I'm looking forward to lower cost articulated figures with more moderate articulation, much lower prices and solid sculpts/paints. I'm expecting something with more detail than the Bandai Standards but a little less than SHMA.
I've been really impressed with Neca's handling of the Gremlins line so I think this could be a great line although most collector's will dismiss it for not being Japanese.

If they are better than the Pacific Rim figures from NECA, and don't have a glossy finish I'd call it a win.

well they seem to be really doing wonders on sculpting lately. With their improvements in Pacific Rim Wave 3, and also having proto-types like Maurice from the upcoming film sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes, NECA could be a Godzilla toy force to recon with.

To be honest, I'm not expecting much out of NECA. Their figures are fragile as sh!t, they don't even sell them anywhere but specialty shops half the time (have never seen a single Pacific Rim figure ever), and their character selection tends to suck ass. They will get a license for something and release multiple versions of one character and only one character. Two if we are lucky. As such, I don't expect much outside of a few versions of Godzilla.

If they do indeed do a 1954 Godzilla, I'll get him if the price is right to hold me over until we get a MonsterArts one. As soon as MA one is released, I'll probably junk or give away the NECA one.

From less than an hour ago via Twitter - looks like the press release info talking about a Godzilla 1954 was indeed a misunderstanding. That makes sense, as the description for the supposed '54 and the 2014 figures were virtually the same.

Oh well, it just means I don't have to give any of my money to NECA.

So I just got the NECA 1/4 scale Michael Keaton Batman today and I have to say, if the Godzilla figures are anywhere close to this good, we're in for a treat. This sucker is just spectacular. And the sculpt is spot on. I've still got concerns about the durability, especially after my pacific rim figure just randomly and for no apparent reason lost a leg. But dang, this guy is one of the coolest things ever. Even the accessories (a quad-folding batarang that actually folds?!) are spectacular.

well NECA stated that on tomorrow they will be showing the one "classics" figure they have produced.

First look at the Neca Godzilla Classic '94 Figure.....6 inch tall... 12 inch long... 30 points of articulation

I've gotta say it looks... lackluster.

I hope their version of 84 looks more impressive and does not have green tint on it.

All things considered it looks alright. I am not a fan of the green/blue tint, but the mold itself is not bad. 30 Points of articulation? Cool. And it looks like the tail is not a bendy wire tail.

That said, what interests me the most is a Godzilla 84

the green is pretty strong showing up probably due to that light colored background. Though didn't some of the old Trendmaster Godzilla box and display art show a slightly greenish Godzilla for Heisei "back in the day"? I am glad to see they are going to also do Godzilla 1985. Now THAT is some new news!!! Thirty points of articulation, sounds really good. I wonder where are the other points at. From the pic, I can see about close to 20. Now...*snickers* this may rival SH MonsterArts a bit now. LOL! I guess we all will wonder what their Showa plans may be.

You guys are being unreasonable, Godzilla is green! That's what I've been told my entire life.

Got me Godzilla 84. We'll see how good these are. But more than anything I hope they promote some competition between the two companies so they can both up their game.

Who knows, it could be Pacific Rim all over again...


EDIT: I see. No movement in the neck so far, save for the actual head. That might be problematic. Hand articulation is pretty cool though. I'm really curious to see their Godzilla 84. Why go with Godzilla 94?

Oh boy another 90s Godzilla.
I still think it looks cool, but I'm far more excited for the 84' Goji.

Can't say I'm interested in Godzilla '94, but I wouldn't mind having the '84 version. I'll make my decision as soon as I see more product images.

The more I look at that picture the more I like it better than the MA. This one looks...beefier, more clunky and fat the way I remember the 90s suits. I also really like those dorsal fins. Ah heck, I'll probably end up buying this too.

Definitely like the sculpt especially the legs and torso. Not so sure about the paint on the fins or the head articulation but I'll definitely be picking this up.

Not a fan of the sheen, but there is some good here. Not liking that it's neck is pretty static. I may get it for my little cousin. He loves Heisei Godzilla. As I said before, I am really looking forward to the G84.

I wonder if this is the final design or just a prototype version?

I might pick this up but I'm more into the SHMAs right now.
