First official news:
http://variety.com/2013/film/news/godzi ... 200497965/
What this means:
Bandai owns the figure rights for the next film
NECA will be releasing what I assume are probably bobble heads and things of that nature
JAKKS Pacific will be releasing large scale figures
Sideshow will be releasing detailed statues (I'm guessing a copy of the design marquette for Godzilla for starters)
What this might mean:
I guess I'll eat crow here. If Bandai is doing figures for the new movie then there's a strong chance we will get at least a few new figures based on the old ones as well. Also, a Monster Arts figure of the new Godzilla is a no-brainer.
Looks very unlikely that X Plus will have the ability to make figures based on the new movie the way the licences are broken up.
For adult collectors, it looks like the inevitable Monster Art figure, and Sideshow (though Sideshow's statues are VERY expensive...I'd expect it to be at least 300 bucks) are the way to go. To me, that actually kind of leaves a lot to be desired. I don't collect Monster Arts and Sideshow is too expensive.
