Weekly Character Spotlight 20: King Ghidorah

Okay since I didn't get any volunteers for a new thread, I'll try again. I was surprised this kaiju hadn't already had a spotlight, so without further delay here goes: King Ghidorah

I'll start this off with 2 of my favorite Ghidorah figures: Bandai's Super Dragon King Ghidorah & M1's bronze Bullmark repro.

p.s. - I am still interested in someone to pick up the next thread. I won't be doing 3 in a row so anyone interested in this continuing should PM me & volunteer for next week.

I am excited to see what people post for this.. my latest purchase was actually the M1Go GMK King Ghidorah, so whenever that arrives from Japan I will post it.. Also this will be the first Weekly Spotlight that has an SHMA entry.... Anyway I do have a lot of love for that particular Bandai figure, here's a picture of it from behind

That is a gorgeous figure. I would love to find one with that paint scheme

Once the Gigabrain Ghidorah came out, all other Ghidorah figures became obsolete. Well, for me at least. It's exactly what I've wanted in a Ghidorah figure for years. But good gosh was it freaking expensive. Don't know if I'll ever spend that much on one figure again but I'm glad I did this once.

Those are old pictures from when I first got it. I'd like to take some new ones for this thread but I don't know if/when I'll have a chance to.

This is one of my favorite small pieces.. pictures do not do it justice due to the nice use of transparency.. Anyway its the Artworks figure based on the art of Yuji Kaida..

I like it because it kind of captures the spirit of Ghidorah without being too literal.. that said it is literally a Ghidorah emerging from an explosion.

Well, I was gonna start with that Artworks figure, but since Klen7 just posted it, I'll hold off on my pics until there's a little more space between posts. Meanwhile, I'll hit that Bandai button, Showa and Heisei style:

Here are a couple of personal favorites...

Uploaded with

This is the X-Plus cold cast resin statue. I know some say the necks are to thin, but I like them. It's the image I think of when I think "Ghidrah".

This is the Bandai plastic kit. A nice sculpt that can be changed to "flying form" without much difficulty. The first Ghidrah I had that I was really happy with. :D

I especially like the funky retro look of some of the older toys, not many better than this old skool figure!

And here are a few more figures with even more stylized looks.
