Weekly Character Spotlight 17: Gyaos

Postby klen7 » Mon Apr 01, 2013 1:29 pm

Well lets try our first Gamera related spotlight... and in order to cast the widest net as possible, bring on ANY Gyaos! This could be a Silver Space Gyaos, this could be a sleek Hyper Gyaos, a classic Showa era Gyaos, a Super Gyaos, a Millenium Gyaos, even a rare Albino Gyaos! Any Gyaos! Any at all...

It was released by Sega as a crane toy but sculpted by X Plus I believe. Fantastic figure and it was relatively cheap when first released.

Great theme for this week BTW. Just looking around my room, it seems I have 4 Gyaos (and two of those are mini figures). One, is the Sega Gyaos you just posted a pic of so I won't have much for this week at the moment. I have pre-ordered the exclusive version of the X Plus Showa Gyaos coming out later this month, so I'll post it here eventually.

As for now, hopefully I'll post pics of what I do have either later tonight or tomorrow.

Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

No pictures of Gyaos from me this week... (I've only got the 6 inch bandai from GIII and the small accessory hyper Gyaos that came with the Kaiyodo Xebec GIII figure). But I have good reason why I haven't been and probably won't be participating very much in these threads for the time being... I just moved. Below is the current state of my collection...

Well, since canofhumdingers can't post it, I dedicate these pictures of the Bandai 6 inch GIII Gyaos to him:

Another rarity, the Yutaka 30th Anniversary boxed set with Gamera and Gyaos from 1995.

^ I'd definitely pick that up if i saw it at a decent price... Also the Vinyl Paradise figures really have character to them... i like them better than most of the sculpts from the VP line-up

Here is a "controversial" entry... I am a big fan of this particular series but i understand why some fans dislike them.. anyway here's a re-imagining of the Showa Gyaos from "Konami SF Collection Series 2"

The chase figure from this series is a Space Gyaos which is the same exact sculpt but painted silver. I will post pictures of that one too

And here is the Gyaos from "Konami SF Collection Series 1"... i really love the sculpts on every single figure of this series (even at such a small scale they blow away most other Legion, Legion Soldier and Iris sculpts)... my ONLY complaint about this series is that the paint job on the Gyaos is far too glossy

(even the under side of this small sculpt is incredibly detailed)

^I've almost bought that figure several times. Tempting, but I'm just not quite enough of a Gamera collector to justify more pieces that aren't filling notable holes in my collection.
