What are the weekly spotlight threads? These threads are intended for collectors to post pictures of, and discuss a specific character and the various figures that have been released for it.

When are the weekly spotlight threads? The weekly character spotlight are weekly thread. It will run actively for a week to give everyone a chance to snap a few shots or dig some figures out of storage. The thread can still continue to be updated after it's initial week

Why have weekly spotlight threads? To spur activity in this section of the forums outside of new releases, It will also focus on a particular character rather than a line... this will allow us to look at all lines and releases old and new and will also let us see some figures that other collectors own that we may not have seen before. This will also let designer vinyls, gashapons, highly articulated, and kits all stand side by side

Who can participate in the weekly spotlight threads? Anybody can participate, just post pictures of figures you own. At the end of the week the person that picked for the week will pick someone that contributed to the thread to pick the next weeks spotlight.

How do the weekly spotlight threads work? If selected to start a weekly spotlight, make a title consistent with the other threads in the series (eg. Weekly Character Spotlight #X: Monster X) Post pictures of figures you own and any commentary you wish to share on them. Any kaiju is fine for the weekly spotlight (Gamera, Godzilla, Ultra, etc) but the more obscure, the less likely people will be to participate.

Oh, cool, so these started here! I hadn't looked closely enough. I'll start sharing a few pics.

This place has been quite slow for a long time now. I think a lot of the old regulars migrated to facebook groups, but I'm not on it so I can't say for sure. I visit TK a lot more than I used to, but mostly just as a source to keep up with new release news that often doesn't make its way here anymore. I've tried to participate in the forums there but the user base and general atmosphere just doesn't appeal to me the way MZ always has. I guess I'm too much of a geezer (same reason I don't bother with FB...)

I know what you mean 100%. I tried the other forum as well but it didn't come close to this place when it was in it's prime. I can't find anywhere to discuss stylized figures anymore. Maybe someday I'll break down and get on Facebook.

Facebook is apparently where all the in-depth nerdy discussion happens these days, but there's just so much that comes with Facebook it just seems like a chore to me.

If twitter is serious about cracking down on harrasment I may bite the bullet and get a twitter account, but even then that's a forum for commenting, joking, and shooting the ****, not really the in-dept discussion you'd get on an old-fashion board.

I try putting in my two cents here when I can, such as when I found out about the exclusive Bandai vinyls, but it's way harder without the userbase this subforum, or the board in general, used to have. I joined one of the Facebook groups but didn't see any appeal in the discussion there, and no longer have FB so it's a moot point. I've seen TK's toy discussions a few times before and have no interest in joining those sorts of conversations.

^We should start our own social media platform, just for kaiju fans, where people can join in archived discussion of things with no character limits aaaaaand I just recreated the message board.
